- leafs have $0 Cap Space…makes it kind of tough to add a 7M player

- at -7 in 15 games Klingberg would blend right in on the leaf blue line

- his NTC is in full effect till Jan. 1st, and then submits a 10-team list for trades.

Actually maybe you should check your facts chicken foot the leafs have 5.1 million in cap space currently with Muzzin in LTIR.

You are 100% (sorta) correct VBBBB. GOOD FOR YOU!

Of course, like most Pinball trades, this one ignores what another team might "want" and focuses entirely on what he perceives his team "needs". That's now how deal-making works in the real world.

- Klingberg is a well-known name and would bring back a 1st rounder from someone loading up for a run who thinks they can overcome his defensive deficiencies.

- If you want a team to retain half of a 7M salary you have to give them something for that. (MTL got a 1st for taking on Monahan's full salary, so 3.5M in retention would cost at the leafs a 2nd. Pinball included no such compensation, and even included a further cap-dump in Holl. )

- Holl is useless and the remainder of his 2M salary is nothing more than a cap dump, especially considering he's UFA at the end of the season and is of no use to a rebuilding team like ANA.

- Joey Anderson is, and will remain, a minor league goalie. His inclusion in this deal is meaningless. It's filler.

- Most importantly, Murray is getting ready to return to the lineup, and while it probably won't be long until he returns to the LTIR once again, his Cap Hit returning to the leafs reduces any cap cushion they have to work with.
