The first is nice, but the rest does nothing for Winnipeg. You'll need to pay Chevy's asking price or check again at the TDL.

That is an overpay. One first round for three first rounders. I say again unproven me me.

@memarcus
That's essentially 3 1st round picks for a guy who doesn't want to stay in the peg
I get, that chevy isn't giving him away, but this is a good package. I big young RHD, a young winger with potential, and a 1st.

MEMARCUS: any word on what Chevy's price is? I haven't heard anything about it yet, and I'd heard that they're trying to work it out with the kid?

Chickenfoot, there are no actual leaks from the Jets, but the insiders think he is asking for a young roster player or prospect that is NHL ready.
It makes sense as an ask, but that's about the only info out there.

Hurdemz, just because a player
was drafted in the first round, doesn't mean they hold that value their entire career.
So, no that isn't close to 3 first round picks in value. The same reason Montreal fans want to get rid of them is the same reason other teams don't want them. They all realize the potential just really isn't there anymore.
Mesar, is okay, nothing impressive, maybe ends up as a small bottom six energy guy or something. Maybe worth a 3rd? But he fills no need for Winnipeg and is probably a couple years away. Almost no value to Winnipeg.
Barron, his new contract says it all. He's being paid for being exactly what he is, a low end 6/ 7 that couldn't consistently crack a horrible Montreal defense. Comparable players can be picked up off waivers or as an FA for even less money and Winnipeg doesn't need bottom pairing defensemen. He has zero value to Winnipeg.

MEMARCUS: good info, and I think that price is fair if the kid comes as advertised. No matter what happens Chevy will do something smart because that’s what he does.
Good rebuttal email as well. You are consistently a good read on here. ?.

McGroaty is likely a tough eval for anyone looking to acquire him. Do you take his demands for playing time as entitlement and unwillingness to work for it or do you look at it as he knows how good he is and is showing his confidence. It's a fine line.
Chevy will hold onto him until the deadline and will likely be in talks with his agent and him leading up to it to figure out if the Jets are a fit. And if not then he'll be used to go after a big fish, assuming the Jets are in a playoff spot or in the hint for one. And if not wait till the draft.

I won't pretend to say I know much about the kid from the Jets. I do agree on most points with Memarcus. I'm just not sold on a kid that expects a roster spot, obviously I don't know the whole story. I'd have to fully understand what the situation is. Hard to tell if this would be an over or under payment.

That's the whole thing with a McGroarty evaluation. None of us know and likely will never know what the actual situation is.
I can see why some teams may not be interested and why others would say "damn the torpedoes" let's go after him.

Mcgroaty is a top 6 forward, not a star.
