Hey guys.
I saw this potential trade but I think it was rejected. Sources do not fully know the reason why. Speculation is McGroarty's demands.
But the trade was
WPG
McGroarty
WASHINGTON
McMichael.
Like to know you thoughts and opinions on this. There was any others discussed as far a I know. One for one. Personally maybe WPG has to add something more. McMichael has some NHL experience and Center.
My opinion is you're trading an unknown value player for a needed positional player with little NHL experience. This trade gives WPG a 2C.
But IDK.
Want your thoughts.

It would be okay as long as Winnipeg isn't adding. The Jets would take a hit on ceiling, but would have an NHL ready player. I just don't know what they'd do with McMichael.
He isn't a 2C now and hasn't shown much evidence of having the offensive chops to get there, so I think he tops out as a 3C, which isn't a need.
I can see why it didn't work out.

McMichael is a Center but Washington is more likely be moving him to wing. I checked his stats. Not bad but not great. If he could be a 2C then maybe this trade would make since but if not then the trade doesn’t work. Jets don’t need wingers
I don’t know about McGroarty’s value but a trade must be one quality needed commodity.
Lots of rumours, but lots of them do not make sense for Jets. WPG has 2 major needs 2C and top 4RD. But not much money left. Especially after signing Perfetti when they do.
Lots of trade rumours about Habs getting Laine. Idk why Habs would make that trade.

McMicheal has top 6/ 2nd line center potential but his development has been sheltered because of the depth Washington has had with Backstrom/ Kuznetsov/ and Strome.
With the first 2 now gone and Dubois coming this season, McMichael is still looking at probably playing 3rd line C or moving up and down the lineup. I think with Winnipeg he would have had an actual opportunity at more minutes and a role that he's better suited for as a 2nd line C.
McGroarty has the higher trade value but hasn't had a chance to establish his potential yet, I think thus trade was proposed because it would have given both players a chance to get what they're looking for in more NHL ice time. But instead Washington opted to extend McMichael and see what happens with this seasons new roster.

I like McMichael for the Jets in a trade but I believe that McGroarty will become a Tkachuk type of player.
In fairness to McG he has a good point as the Jets have not had a good record of dealing with their young players.
Scheifele playing on the 3rd line until an injury to Little, Morrissey was to be sent down until Buff demanded that he play with him,
Connor who was sent down yet again until an injury forced the Jets to recall him 3 days later,
Heinola who has never been given a fair chance despite looking very good when in the lineup until his injury last season
19 goal Perfetti who was in the press box watching the Jets struggle to score goals.
I hope that the Jets sign and play McG but will Arneil give him a fair chance to play through rookie mistakes?
