Toews for Wheeler
Winnipeg brings Toews home and gets rid of Wheeler. Both players would have to agree to be moved. Wheeler has an extra year on his contract. Maybe Winnipeg throws in a pick, Chicago retains?

Toronto17

1.) 28 Jul 2022 20:52:57
The Jets much as well keep Wheeler, if they're not getting back picks.

2.) 28 Jul 2022 21:49:37
Winnipeg adds due to extra year.

3.) 28 Jul 2022 23:17:03
I thought the jets were trying to split up Wheeler & Scheifele? I can’t see anyone giving picks for Wheeler. One heavy contract for another was my thinking.

4.) 29 Jul 2022 13:07:58
I see Jets doing it. Toews will be a UFA, Wheeler has another year, Toews also brings in tons of cup experience and is a big name.

5.) 29 Jul 2022 14:22:11
Chicago says no.

6.) 29 Jul 2022 16:09:37
A straight up trade would help both teams. Wheeler still is a point per game player and can still produce while Toews could bring a positive leadership quality the Jets seem to need. However I don't think Wheeler would have Chicago as one of the 5 teams he would want to go to.

7.) 29 Jul 2022 18:17:16
completely agree with islandjet no chance wheeler approves chicago.

8.) 30 Jul 2022 03:30:22
Both are okd an declining, also it would cost the Jets a couple million more a season.

9.) 30 Jul 2022 14:00:38
If Wheeler went to Chicago there would be a good chance he gets dealt at the deadline. Doesn’t make sense to assume he wouldn’t accept a trade there.

Leafs get Saros & Jeannot, Predators get Nylander, plus ?
What would make this trade fair? Nashville has 2 young goalies for the future

Toronto17

1.) 02 Jul 2022 00:53:49
I don't think the Preds would be very interested in Nylander and they wouldn't trade those two players for anything else Toronto has.

Not counting Matthews since Toronto wouldn't even considering trading him for anything other than a 1 for 1 for McDavid.

2.) 02 Jul 2022 16:20:55
I’d maybe Move Mathews for Makar tbh.

3.) 02 Jul 2022 17:05:43
Why do you think they wouldn’t be interested in Nylander? Just because I want a tougher team, it doesn’t mean a team wouldn’t want a young, top 6 forward, on a good contract.

4.) 02 Jul 2022 17:57:40
Because the Predators have Forsberg and need to resign him. They aren't going to just let him go so they can take on an inferior player who costs almost as much.

5.) 03 Jul 2022 03:39:26
Mind you it sounds like the Predators GM is botching the negotiations with Forsberg. Money isn't the problem either it's the clauses. If Forsberg doesn't resign they might be interested in Nylander to replace him.

Not sure what they'd trade for Nylander but I can't see Saros being part of it and probably not Jeannot either. Still if they don't have Forsberg they'd have the cap space to take on Nylander's contract without having to send a big salary back.

6.) 03 Jul 2022 17:30:46
It seems to me that Nashville has 2 solid, young goalies for the future. They could trade Saros and sign a cheap veteran if they want someone with experience in net as well. Maybe it’s not Nylander, but they can use $5 million from Saros to improve elsewhere. Also resign Forsberg, or use that cap for something else. IMO Nashville has more to gain by trading Saros. I wouldn’t trade Jeannot if I was them, that part was me being greedy, lol.

13 Jan 2022 01:38:39
If Kane signs with Edmonton, they might as well go after Price too. I'm guessing Kane would be dirt cheap for the remainder of the season.
Koskinen/Kassian/ 1st/ prospect for Price

Koskinen/Barrie/1st for Price

I'm not good at proposals and I don't know Edmonton's prospects very well. Feel free to tear it apart, but Edmonton has to be all in while McDavid & Draisaitl are in their prime

Toronto17

1.) 13 Jan 2022 02:44:24
The cap is a little off but not so far that someone couldn’t be added, on both sides maybe.

2.) 13 Jan 2022 03:10:42
Price has negative value. My guess is Montreal has to do something like Price at 50% retained for a 3rd/ 4th line guy and a 3rd or something…
Something very close to the Fleury deal.
No one will touch that contract otherwise.

3.) 13 Jan 2022 03:33:23
I don’t think it would be a good idea to trade for Prices contract. Campbell, Kuemper, Korpisalo all going to be UFA’s that’ll cost half as much or less. I hope the Oil trade there first this year for a young player with term though.

4.) 13 Jan 2022 05:01:10
Fair enough. I know Price’s contract is nuts but I thought unloading 2 bad contracts in Koskinen and Kassian would ease the blow. I agree Ebs, I just think they need to do something this year. They’re still in it.

5.) 16 Jan 2022 09:25:31
Price @ 5.25 would have value.

16 Feb 2021 21:07:06
Nylander & Vesey for Backlund & Bennett?

Salaries pretty much balance out. I don't care if Toronto gives up the "supposed" best player. Toronto gets a solid 3C and some toughness. Calgary gets a top 6 RW. Kerfoot would be a better piece than Vesey for Calgary because they are losing 2C in the deal. I don't think Calgary can take on the salary difference between Vesey & Kerfoot

Toronto17

1.) 16 Feb 2021 21:33:06
No from Toronto why would you want that

2.) 16 Feb 2021 22:30:51
I hate Nylander. Backlund is good at both ends of the ice and they need grit. Their team is built to make the playoffs every year, and that’s it. can't win on skill alone.

3.) 16 Feb 2021 23:07:49
Replying again.
Nylander > Backlund (Backlund is super good defensively tho, but age, offensively and positional wise it makes no sense for Toronto)

Bennett > Vesey (Bennett plays a hard and physical game, Vesey is a pylon, both similar offensively but Bennett has a better chance of breaking out and is younger)

4.) 16 Feb 2021 23:37:46
That’s just absolutely stupid from the leafs. Wouldn’t mind Backlund as 3C tho Bennet went from underrated to severely overrated very quickly he’s worth a 2nd/ 3rd tops when he’s moved at deadline Calgary fans will be disappointed.

5.) 17 Feb 2021 00:32:53
@toronto17 that is very true but Nylander is younger and better offensively, but the playoffs is a different story you’re right. Mhm maybe an add from Calgary? Like a first round pick. I just see this kinda favouring Calgary at the moment

6.) 17 Feb 2021 11:22:16
Flames say thanks but we'll just keep our two centers.

29 Jan 2021 13:50:34
Dermott for Bennett? Maybe a small add somewhere. Change of scenery for both players. Leafs could always use more grit. Not sure if Calgary needs a dman but maybe Dermott fits in 5-7 dman. They are the same age, both RFA's, and both have shown some promise in years past

Toronto17

1.) 29 Jan 2021 14:54:16
No from Calgary they’re set on the left side.

2.) 29 Jan 2021 15:15:27
Thanks. I don’t know much about Valimaki.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 17:54:18
@toronto17 Valimaki is a stud and is regarded as untouchable, Treliving really likes Val. But so far he’s struggled a bit this season

4.) 29 Jan 2021 18:58:10
Untouchable is being thrown out very lousily on this site.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 01:16:23
@nylander it’s not my words. They have literally stated that he is untouchable

6.) 30 Jan 2021 16:01:10
Well they must’ve said it in the sense of a hyperbole as I’m sure when Jack Eichels name was floating around in the offseason and Calgary called Buffalo to see what it’d take to get Jack out they didn’t tell them Valamaki is off limits. I am absolutely sure they’d include Valamki in a trade for Eichel.

7.) 30 Jan 2021 16:10:17
I didn’t know Valimaki was highly regarded. I’m just trying to find a fit for Dermott. The leafs could use a bottom 6 grinder or just trade him for a pick. Toronto really needs to get Lehtonen or Sandin in the line up full time.

8.) 30 Jan 2021 17:18:24
Detroit would be a fit for Dunn and Dermott that’s the only team I could see protecting 1 of those 2.

9.) 30 Jan 2021 18:24:56
Don't worry Toronto fans, injuries will occur, and they other players will be called up. Don't trade your depth and get stuck.

If lehtonen or sandin deserved the full time spot, they would have it.

10.) 30 Jan 2021 23:14:43
We’ve seen quite a bit of Sandin, he’s is better than Dermott IMO. I think he has a much higher ceiling as well. Yes injuries will happen but I don’t think they need that many LD when the RD are weak. Maybe a one for one, Dermott for a RD of similar talent. I would really like to see Holl/ Reilly, Brodie/ Muzzin. I hope Brodie is just nervous with a new team. He fumbles the puck a lot and passes to nobody. Holl has been a stud, could be the rock defensively that Reilly needs.

Many leaf fans wanted Manson for a few years now. Vbbb's told us repeatedly how terrible he is. I still want the leafs to sign him, regardless of how bad he is. I'd also take Hyman over Nylander, which we argued about many times.
$2 million in savings to use elsewhere. Sometimes points isn't everything, especially in the playoffs

Toronto17

1.) 29 Jun 2022 18:52:49
Manson isn’t terrible but he wasn’t worth Nylander which was proved at the deadline. I don’t think Hyman brings more of an impact then Nylander at all he is a solid energy guy but they can be added in free agency for cheap. Realistically the leafs have a very solid Dcore for the future.

Rielly-Lilijgren
Girodano-Brodie
Sandin-Subban/ Schenn

Muzzin=Traded

You also have one of the best d prospects in the game in Niemela in the minors. I’m very content personally with the leafs D. Use the Cap space gained by moving Muzzin and Holl ( shouldn’t cost assets ) + paying to dump Mrazek on Gibson+ a top 6 LW. ( Rakell/ Perron )

2.) 29 Jun 2022 20:49:50
I hope you’re right about the future of the D. Muzzin’s health is a concern, I’d gladly take anything for him. As long as they don’t give away picks to get rid of his contract. I never said Nylander for Manson, I don’t know if others were. I just wanted Manson to be a target for the past few years. They lack big, physical D that can clear the front of the net. Schenn is the man I wanted this past trade deadline. I think Hyman is much more than an energy guy.

3.) 29 Jun 2022 20:54:11
Doesn’t look like a very good D core to me. And Hymans best asset is he’s constantly good. Not as skilled as Nylander but brings it every game.

4.) 29 Jun 2022 21:49:56
I agree about Hyman 100% Ebs. The D looks ok to me, assuming Liljegren & Sandin continue to get better. It definitely doesn’t match up to some of the top teams in the league. I thought Liljegren had a great finish to the season, and was disappointed that he was replaced with Holl.

5.) 30 Jun 2022 14:21:05
@Ebsoultly maybe from a outsider POV but Sandin and Lilijgren are to very good dman. I think they are both ready to be top 4 guys. I see them as both future #3 dman. Both very solid in all around dman.

Id put them on par with Bouchard/ Broberg from Edmonton.

20 Feb 2022 03:33:14
I need an honest opinion on Lyubushkin. I don't know anything about him. I don't mind the trade though. Dzingel is ok and they got rid of Ritchie's contract for next year without giving up too much, IMO

Toronto17

1.) 20 Feb 2022 18:26:57
I don't know anything about this guy either., but good move on Dubas's part to get rid of Ritchie. He was a huge disappointment.

2.) 20 Feb 2022 19:57:44
I’m not a Dubas lover or hater, but this was a good move. Even if someone claims Dzingel, they got a depth d man,
and rid themselves of Ritchie’s contract. I’d like to see them make room for Clifford in the line up too. He’s not better than anyone currently in the line up, but I’d rather another physical player in there.

3.) 21 Feb 2022 04:48:11
Lybushkin according to Arizona fans on HF boards was the bride of the deal. Really good shut down guy like charot or Demelo.

4.) 24 Feb 2022 11:27:28
Thanks vbbbs. He looked alright in game 1. At least he hits.

13 Jan 2022 03:41:40
I'd like the leafs to get a nasty D man, but if they go with a forward, Pavelski would easily be my choice. If Dallas were to be out of contention. I've loved him ever since he was a wing killer. Clutch playoff performer and versatile

Toronto17

1.) 13 Jan 2022 21:55:29
Hes deffenitley a good player, and one of those guys that seem better in the playoffs.

2.) 14 Jan 2022 06:17:06
I work with a ton of wings fans Sosa. They were much more vocal year ago, lol. I loved watching Pavelski light them up. Some players have that ability to turn it up a notch in the playoffs.

3.) 15 Jan 2022 15:14:38
Chara on the cheap fulfills a nasty D man or Risto would cost more say. Dermott and our 2nd.

4.) 15 Jan 2022 17:00:08
@Thatguy I’d take either of those guys. I couldn’t imagine Chara in the blue and white. Something doesn’t seem right with that.

5.) 15 Jan 2022 20:16:13
Chara would be scary on Leafs, but I agree, it with you TO17, that would be weird.

05 Jan 2022 16:35:33
Koskinen on the Oilers recent struggles
"We have 2 of the best players in the league and can't score. It's -28 in this city, and the entire province is broke and full of racists. We should just sell this team.
City of champions my ass".
I know Tipett through him under the bus the other day, but wow! Safe to say he's played his last game in Edmonton

Toronto17

1.) 05 Jan 2022 16:55:23
I can’t find anywhere that this is true but many people are talking about it. The only article I found was Koskinen saying how he can’t score goals for the team. My apologies if this is false.

2.) 05 Jan 2022 19:56:12
It’s been like -38/ 48 and the province being broke and full of racist’s is ridiculous. Team hasn’t been good enough and I don’t like coaches calling guys out in the media but Koskinen isn’t good enough to win games. I can only hope it’s his last game. I thought he was going to have a good bounce back year too.

3.) 05 Jan 2022 22:18:20
I think it was just some idiot ranting on Twitter and I fell for it. Maybe I’m the idiot, lol. I’m sure Edmonton will turn it around.

23 Nov 2021 11:47:39
Off topic here but can any Albertans tell me a safe city to raise a family, other than Edmonton or Calgary? We don't want to be in a big city. We're moving from a small town in Ontario and would like to be in a somewhat smaller city, with schools and job opportunities. I have some family in Camrose, It seems nice but we'd like to broaden our search. Thanks

Toronto17

1.) 23 Nov 2021 15:39:35
I have family just outside of Calgary in Airdrie as well as in Lethbridge. Both with kids that grew up there and turned out pretty awesome.

2.) 23 Nov 2021 15:41:53
Guess it also depends on what you consider a small town. Lethbridge is pretty big, Airdrie is smaller but closer to Calgary.

3.) 23 Nov 2021 18:57:18
The houses in Airdrie seem pretty high, it must be nice. I’ve done a lot of research but wanted to know from people with experience. We don’t want a really small town that schools are too far away, not a real big city either. Thanks turkey.

4.) 23 Nov 2021 22:25:59
I'm not from Alberta, but have been to Lethbridge many times as its about 2 hours from BC border, it has everything you need ( however very windy) . Like all places, they have there crime and issues.
It all depends what kind of work your looking for?

5.) 24 Nov 2021 01:40:57
Cold lake is a small city/ big town if your looking farther North.

6.) 24 Nov 2021 10:37:05
I have read that Lethbridge and Red Deer are high on crime, but yes most places do have their share of issues. I haven’t heard of Cold lake, I’ll look into it. I’m hoping to get a retirement package from my company in April. I’ll only be 47, so I still plan on working somewhere for another 10 years. Any type of work really, just not customer service. I don’t like people, lol. My wife is a teacher, schools close by would be nice. Kids in high school, college soon. I appreciate the info.

7.) 25 Nov 2021 00:02:20
Jus so ya know, BC is better lol.

Blairmore, Coleman Alberta are small little towns, close to BCs East Kootenay region, where i'm from, Lots of Golf, Skiing, if ya want US border is about an hour away,
They call Blairmore / Coleman area the Crowsnest Pass area, lots of people work at the mines in BC, not to far away, make 100k a year driving Haul Trucks? If your into that.

8.) 25 Nov 2021 03:18:07
Thanks Sosa. We spent 3 weeks this summer in Banff, Jasper, Whistler and Vancouver. We loved every minute of it. We have family in Edmonton and Camrose, so we’ll probably stay in Alberta.

9.) 25 Nov 2021 03:23:54
Crowsness Pass looks like it’s right in the mountains. I like that. We also liked Field BC, went to Emerald Lake. Have you been to Lussier Hot Springs? A natural hot spring in the mountains.

10.) 25 Nov 2021 11:01:20
Yes I've been to Lussier many times, as I spend 2 weeks camping about 15 minutes from there, I grew up about an hour away from there, its a great place. Actually going to be going up there in about 3 weeks, do some icefishing and probably stop in for a soak once I'm done.
Good luck on the move out West. If ya end up near a WHL town, there's good hockey. the AJHL ( Jr A) is also a good league.
Maybe time to ditch the Leafs? And go for Oilers or Flames? Lol.

11.) 25 Nov 2021 12:58:31
That’s awesome Sosa. I’ll never give up on the leafs but I like all Canadian teams, even the habs. I found a really nice place I like in Blairemore, but this is all for nothing if I don’t get offered a retirement package in April. Worst case scenario, I retire in 5 years and we’re moving then. I want to be prepared if it’s April, so thanks to all of those who replied.

12.) 25 Nov 2021 14:30:26
Retire at your age.? I'm in the wrong profession lol . Hope it all works out for ya bud.

13.) 25 Nov 2021 15:25:14
Good luck on your retirement package!

14.) 25 Nov 2021 19:42:29
I can retire at 52 but there are a lot of people on lay off. It’s also a 2 tier pay system. They could offer a package to get the older crowd in a higher pay bracket out. Thanks guys.

15.) 26 Nov 2021 14:45:10
Red Deer and Lethbridge are indeed very high in crime. Sherwood Park or St Albert are good options aswell. I’m from Edmonton but I’m currently living in BC. You’ll love Alberta.

16.) 26 Nov 2021 14:51:47
Thanks Casual. I have a cousin in Sherwood Park and she has nothing but good things to say about it.

17.) 27 Nov 2021 14:25:39
I’ve been to Medicine Hat many times. Looks like a great place to live. Small city that has almost everything. But low crime rate. People are quite friendly.
Maybe another option for you Toronto 17.

18.) 27 Nov 2021 17:18:01
Thanks Muzza. I’ll check it out.

19.) 30 Nov 2021 19:22:03
Where ever you go don’t go to Fort Mac. That place is a dump. Medicine Hat seems nice. I’d argue that no matter where you go there is crime but you won’t see it unless if you look for it.

20.) 01 Dec 2021 03:55:02
Thanks vbb’s. Fort McMurray is a place I didn’t even consider. Not sure why.

21.) 16 Dec 2021 22:09:41
St Albert, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc or Devon are all smaller but still close to Edmonton. A bit further out, you’ve got Spruce Grove or LaCombe.

Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks/High River, Langdon all surround Calgary. Strathmore is a bit further out or you could retire in Canmore, but it can be pricey.

Lethbridge is far south and windy. Cold Lake is pretty far north near the Saskatchewan border and Fort Mac is even farther north. Nice in summer, but super cold winters and hours away from Edmonton.

I think Keefe is an ok coach, I’d rather Trotz. It looks like he’ll go to Winnipeg. I believe this is Dubas’ last year anyways, I’m fine with letting them try again. If anyone thinks that series couldn’t have went either way, they weren’t watching. If they fail again next year, blow it up. Dubas will not trade any of the core 4, so like islandjet said, they will fill the lineup with whoever that will sign cheap. There are so many guys that need new contracts, it will be a different team anyways. I’d like to keep Sandin, Liljegren, Lyubushkin and maybe Campbell. I would not resign Mikheyev or Engvall, Holl would be traded for a bag of pucks. Maybe give a couple guys like Robertson, Douglas, Steeves, or HoSang full time roles.

I’ve always respected your comments as well Sosa. Sorry for blowing up on you. McDavid or Josi should get the MVP, Seider the Calder. I’m sure a couple of the Oiler fans will be back soon. When the oilers are winning, they like to talk hockey.

I agree Sosa, but he also couldn’t lead the oilers anywhere for 4 years. My point is that it’s on the leafs, not just Matthews.
