Nylander & Vesey for Backlund & Bennett?

Salaries pretty much balance out. I don't care if Toronto gives up the "supposed" best player. Toronto gets a solid 3C and some toughness. Calgary gets a top 6 RW. Kerfoot would be a better piece than Vesey for Calgary because they are losing 2C in the deal. I don't think Calgary can take on the salary difference between Vesey & Kerfoot

Toronto17

1.) 16 Feb 2021 21:33:06
No from Toronto why would you want that

2.) 16 Feb 2021 22:30:51
I hate Nylander. Backlund is good at both ends of the ice and they need grit. Their team is built to make the playoffs every year, and that’s it. can't win on skill alone.

3.) 16 Feb 2021 23:07:49
Replying again.
Nylander > Backlund (Backlund is super good defensively tho, but age, offensively and positional wise it makes no sense for Toronto)

Bennett > Vesey (Bennett plays a hard and physical game, Vesey is a pylon, both similar offensively but Bennett has a better chance of breaking out and is younger)

4.) 16 Feb 2021 23:37:46
That’s just absolutely stupid from the leafs. Wouldn’t mind Backlund as 3C tho Bennet went from underrated to severely overrated very quickly he’s worth a 2nd/ 3rd tops when he’s moved at deadline Calgary fans will be disappointed.

5.) 17 Feb 2021 00:32:53
@toronto17 that is very true but Nylander is younger and better offensively, but the playoffs is a different story you’re right. Mhm maybe an add from Calgary? Like a first round pick. I just see this kinda favouring Calgary at the moment

6.) 17 Feb 2021 11:22:16
Flames say thanks but we'll just keep our two centers.

29 Jan 2021 13:50:34
Dermott for Bennett? Maybe a small add somewhere. Change of scenery for both players. Leafs could always use more grit. Not sure if Calgary needs a dman but maybe Dermott fits in 5-7 dman. They are the same age, both RFA's, and both have shown some promise in years past

Toronto17

1.) 29 Jan 2021 14:54:16
No from Calgary they’re set on the left side.

2.) 29 Jan 2021 15:15:27
Thanks. I don’t know much about Valimaki.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 17:54:18
@toronto17 Valimaki is a stud and is regarded as untouchable, Treliving really likes Val. But so far he’s struggled a bit this season

4.) 29 Jan 2021 18:58:10
Untouchable is being thrown out very lousily on this site.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 01:16:23
@nylander it’s not my words. They have literally stated that he is untouchable

6.) 30 Jan 2021 16:01:10
Well they must’ve said it in the sense of a hyperbole as I’m sure when Jack Eichels name was floating around in the offseason and Calgary called Buffalo to see what it’d take to get Jack out they didn’t tell them Valamaki is off limits. I am absolutely sure they’d include Valamki in a trade for Eichel.

7.) 30 Jan 2021 16:10:17
I didn’t know Valimaki was highly regarded. I’m just trying to find a fit for Dermott. The leafs could use a bottom 6 grinder or just trade him for a pick. Toronto really needs to get Lehtonen or Sandin in the line up full time.

8.) 30 Jan 2021 17:18:24
Detroit would be a fit for Dunn and Dermott that’s the only team I could see protecting 1 of those 2.

9.) 30 Jan 2021 18:24:56
Don't worry Toronto fans, injuries will occur, and they other players will be called up. Don't trade your depth and get stuck.

If lehtonen or sandin deserved the full time spot, they would have it.

10.) 30 Jan 2021 23:14:43
We’ve seen quite a bit of Sandin, he’s is better than Dermott IMO. I think he has a much higher ceiling as well. Yes injuries will happen but I don’t think they need that many LD when the RD are weak. Maybe a one for one, Dermott for a RD of similar talent. I would really like to see Holl/ Reilly, Brodie/ Muzzin. I hope Brodie is just nervous with a new team. He fumbles the puck a lot and passes to nobody. Holl has been a stud, could be the rock defensively that Reilly needs.

06 Oct 2020 13:45:15
Nylander for Larsson and Kassian. The salaries are close, maybe a pick added somewhere? Leafs get a top 4 RD and some grit. Edmonton gets a top 6 forward, much younger than the players they give up. Everyone talks of the defence the oilers have in their system. I'm sure one can fill the hole left by Larsson

Toronto17

1.) 06 Oct 2020 16:50:01
what are u on.

2.) 06 Oct 2020 19:03:10
Uhh. Larsson is a pending UFA. I’m not totally sure if he could catch a 1st at the deadline and Kassian isn’t worth much.

3.) 07 Oct 2020 00:15:46
I didn’t realize Larsson was a UFA. I did mention that a pick could be added somewhere Emmitt, it was just a base to fill positional needs.

4.) 07 Oct 2020 03:31:58
You didn’t realize Larsson was a UFA because he’s not. He has a season left at $4.1mill.

5.) 07 Oct 2020 14:20:44
Yeah 1 year left is a pending UFA why would I associate the trade deadline with him if I didn’t know that? Pending UFA means they are about to be UFAs players like Krug/ Petro/ Hall are UFAs currently.

6.) 07 Oct 2020 13:33:02
Well Pending UFA means his contract is up at the closest UFA day, which is OCT 9th this year. So, Pietrangelo and Hall are ‘pending UFA’s’’, not Larsson, but if that’s what you meant then fine.

I think I'd rather Hutchinson over "occasional" save Dave. I'll admit I was bashing Brodie his first 5-10 games, now I think he's pretty solid. Rittich has lost the puck too many times tonight please make me feel better about this guy casual, lol

Toronto17

1.) 21 Apr 2021 09:37:00
Give him team. New city, new team. Only his second nhl team he’s ever played on, imagine the emotions he’s going through rn. He’ll bounce back

2.) 21 Apr 2021 11:52:39
He was so bad last night. Let in 3 goals that classify as “that terrible goal that goes in once a month” in one game. One of the 2 better get it together soon. Fred looks like he’s getting closer atleast.

3.) 21 Apr 2021 14:16:32
A healthy Andersen has proved to be more then competent. They have 3 nhl caliber goalies who can get hott. 1 of the 3 is bound to go on a hott streak and that’s the one you play. Dave has had hot stretches In Calgary. Campbell has had them in in both LA and Toronto. Andersen won a series for Anaheim and his lack of success should be blamed on the team and not him.

4.) 21 Apr 2021 19:24:18
Sunday night Campbell was okay and Holtby was exceptional. Canucks win. Last night Rittich was terrible and Holtby was good. Canucks win. Leafs don’t need exceptional goaltending. The have good offense and the D is far better than in years past. Just need solid. make the saves you should make and make a cpl others at key times. Give them a chance to win every night and they will win a lot. But can’t be letting 1,2 or 3 softies in a night.

5.) 21 Apr 2021 19:35:51
I sure hope he turns it around. I still think Campbell will be ok.

20 Mar 2021 22:39:43
Why has Joe Thornton never been 3C? He only made a living playing center for 20 years

Toronto17

1.) 21 Mar 2021 14:21:44
Doesn’t have the defensive ability.

2.) 21 Mar 2021 15:46:10
I think if you put some wingers with him that can skate, he’d be just fine. Thornton/ Engvall/ Mikheyev would be a good 3rd line IMO.

13 Mar 2021 22:42:48
Can someone tell me why Komarov is on the taxi squad in NY? Has his play declined that much? I know he was put on waivers as well. I loved him in Toronto and they could use a player like him in the bottom 6. If NY had interest in Kerfoot, it could save the leafs cap this year to make a run at someone else also. Not sure if either team would be interested. Maybe a pick added?

Toronto17

1.) 15 Mar 2021 07:52:50
I would say it’s a combination of his drop off in play and for cap flexibility.

2.) 15 Mar 2021 18:47:06
Thanks habby.

02 Mar 2021 05:49:44
Mike Smith was an embarrassment and Archibald a weasel. A humbling couple games for the oilers against 2nd and 3rd string goalies

Toronto17

1.) 02 Mar 2021 13:48:11
Yeah the Oilers are embarrassingly bad I don’t even want to watch the game on wendsday at this point its pathetic competition.

2.) 02 Mar 2021 15:44:56
What did Smith and Archibald do? Game was on too late for me so I only watched the first. Lol Koskinen was the one that let 2 goals in two shots. Otherwise I think the first was a pretty even period.

3.) 02 Mar 2021 16:26:35
I listened to the game at work but watched some highlights after. Archibald throwing a shot while Dermott was facing the other way, then while Dermott was on the ground. Not even sure if it was the same play. Smith going after Mikheyev after the wind took down the big man. I wouldn’t say the oilers are bad at all, just a couple clowns out there.

4.) 02 Mar 2021 18:28:20
Still haven’t gotten to see the Smith play but yeah he’s firey but at least he’d gladly back it up. Archibald’s shot in the scrum was definitely dirty so I’m excited for Wednesday. Apparently Chaisson gave a dirty cross check to, he’s more of a clown then the other two IMO.

5.) 02 Mar 2021 19:11:17
Nurse bumped into the Leafs goalie on purpose
Archibald took Dermott down and then taunted him
Smith made the Olympic diving team

Sums up the night, just a lot of tempers flaring

Oh and Calgary is dog sh**

6.) 02 Mar 2021 19:11:29
Yes Smith will back it up but he took a dive hoping for a call I’m guessing. When the refs saw that the wind knocked him over, he went after the first leaf he saw. There was another shot from Archibald coming in from the left side of the screen while the leaf player was facing the other way. The Chiasson cross checks I couldn’t zoom in on, they didn’t look like much. None of the plays were much Ebs, just a team upset things weren’t going there way. Not sure if they expected to run the table after going on a little streak. I’m not excited for Wednesday, no Simmonds, no heart.

7.) 02 Mar 2021 20:49:51
Lol I just seen a video of Bogosian giving Dermott fighting tips so hopefully we’ll get to see a couple!

8.) 02 Mar 2021 22:08:39
Maybe. Leafs need to bring up Sabourin with Simmonds out of the line up.

15 Feb 2021 23:03:15
Leafs add another floater. Just what they needed

Toronto17

1.) 16 Feb 2021 14:34:12
Ya, I don't know what happened to that guy. I really thought maybe Pittsburgh, playing with likes of Crosby, Malkin woulda helped him become a better pro. he showed hope of stardom on occasion in Montreal, but that seems like forever ago.

Is that the worst top 3 ever?
Wasn't is Yakupov, Murray, and Galchenyuk that year?

2.) 16 Feb 2021 20:52:11
That is a terrible top 3 Sosa.

3.) 16 Feb 2021 21:14:47
Ya, and Griffin Reinhart was 4th ( yikes) . i'm trying to think who shoulda been 1st. Maybe Slaavin? Maybe Reilly, or Vasilevsky.

4.) 16 Feb 2021 22:39:08
You’re probably right. Vasilevsky over Reilly IMO.

There’s a few people on this site that just hate a team and trash everything they do. JAnderson is one of them. If the leafs didn’t do anything, he would’ve trashed that too.

He seems like the type of player the leafs need. I did not want Hall.

I’d way rather Foligno than Hall. I think the leafs need to focus on defensive forwards. A 3 way deal is a tough one to call, you must have read something.

Absolutely terrible for Edmonton.

There is no doubt in my mind the leafs would be a better team without Nylander. I also agree with some of what JAnderson said and topshelfs response. The playoffs are a different game and yes you need to have heart and the willingness to run through a brick wall for your teammates. Topshelf is right that scoring chances and most offensive play is usually controlled by the leafs. My worry with the leafs is that when the whistles are put away, they will get pushed around. I’d like to see one more guy willing to fight and throw the big hit. The top 4 in the North are fairly equal imo.
