Vegas: Fleury, 29th overall, 2022 7th

Detroit: Future considerations

dsc13

1.) 05 Oct 2020 18:46:12
I'm not sure Fluery would want to go to the Wings at the tail end of his career.
Id like to see him on a team that is close and competitive atm, maybe the Oilers? However I know salary cap, and trading within the division may be tough ( unless for this year they are in separate divisions due to C.V.. )

2.) 05 Oct 2020 20:16:18
Doing he wants wings, but not many competitive teams have $7M cap space to spend on a 35 year old goalie. If he wants to be a starter, it probably has to be a weak team not ready to compete yet.

3.) 05 Oct 2020 22:04:33
To move Fleury at this point, I see this being similar to the Lehner Deadline Trade where a team was in the middle to eat additional Salary on the way to the 3rd team.

That way Fleury ends up on a contender who can afford him and Vegas saves some Salary and the third team gets draft picks.

Although the 2 years left makes this way tougher.

4.) 06 Oct 2020 00:53:21
Can either use Ottawa to eat salary for picks, they need draft floor.

Or vegas will have to retain. Could try shipping him to Washington 50% retained, he can backup for a contender with a young starter. Maybe not 1a 1b goalie, but more starts than pure backup. 1a+ 1c kinda thing?

5.) 06 Oct 2020 12:41:30
Even though Fleury is expensive, I wonder if they'd be able to find someone who actually wants him-- he's been playing alright, and I think giving up a first is not the most desirable situation.

New Jersey: PK Subban, Cory Schneider, 7th overall pick

Detroit: Brendan Perlini, Jonathan Bernier (50% retained), 32nd Overall pick

dsc13

1.) 08 Sep 2020 17:40:45
Subban - a quickly diminishing asset.
Schneider - an untradeable asset.

2.) 08 Sep 2020 20:57:06
So is it declined by Detroit or New Jersey?

3.) 09 Sep 2020 01:31:11
Detroit would say No. we can trade Perlini and Bernier for other assets.

Subban and Schneider are contracts that Jersey will most likely have to pay quite a bit to move. So I think this would need more from Devils or less from Wings.

Also we likely only would take on one not both.

Edmonton: James Neal, 2021 Lottery Protected 1st

Detroit: 2021 Second Rd pick

dsc13

1.) 18 Aug 2020 07:10:08
I though neal did alright in edm. Not 5mil alright, but instead of lucic, did well enough to not dump with a first.

2.) 18 Aug 2020 16:42:33
Ya he was okay, on pace for over 20 goals isn’t bad, even if you are playing on a PP unit with McDavid and Draisaitl lol.

14 Aug 2020 00:20:40
Detroit: Luke Glendening (50% retained)

Toronto: 2 2020 7th Rd Draft Picks

dsc13

1.) 14 Aug 2020 11:15:10
There was time when the cost from Toronto for Glendening included Lilijgren as the main piece in the return.

Not saying he will get that but this is way too low of an offer for an upcoming rental / penalty killer with 50% retention.

Like the return should be in the 3rd/ 4th as a base because there could be lots of buyers out there.

Vancouver- Demko, Eriksson
Detroit- 2020 3rd Rd Pick

dsc13

1.) 16 Jun 2020 21:05:38
You would need to add a heck of a lot more than Demko if you want Detroit to take Eriksson off your hands for 2 more years at full cap hit and have Detroit give you back a 3rd.

2.) 16 Jun 2020 21:56:54
I think Detroit would be crazy to pass that up.

3.) 16 Jun 2020 22:43:20
Not opposed to the premise here but going to need either a bigger add from Vancouver or we lower that draft pick.

Eriksson is a cap dump and you have to pay to dump him.

4.) 17 Jun 2020 10:23:23
Nucks won’t trade Demko.

5.) 17 Jun 2020 12:49:34
Demko could probably get a 3rd on his own if Vancouver decides to sell him.

Adding a Cap Dump in Eriksson should lower the return from the other team as they are taking on salary?

Isn’t that how it works?

6.) 17 Jun 2020 14:17:43
Demko is worth more then a 3rd probably a second and prospect.

7.) 17 Jun 2020 15:55:12
It’s crazy how undervalued Demko is lol

He can easily move a cap dump and get something like a third in return.

8.) 17 Jun 2020 16:38:25
Toronto needed to add a 1st to dump 1 year of Marleau. It’d take more then a 1st to dump Ericksson. Torontos 1st>Demko.

9.) 17 Jun 2020 17:01:28
Demko>>Toronto’s 1st is more accurate, but why should I expect anything different.

10.) 17 Jun 2020 18:14:08
Veritus, the last two goalies to get a first were Lehner to Sabres and Schneider to Devils (There May be others I forgot)

Goalies do not get a first that often and buyers are aware of doing so. Demko is a very good goalie and I would like him in Detroit but adding a Cap Dump diminishes his value that would start at a 2nd at best, 3rd at worst.

So to expect a good pick in return while adding a Cap Dump, is not likely.

If you want to move him separately, go for it and have fun with Eriksson.

11.) 18 Jun 2020 02:11:18
Some mediocre goalie named Fredric Anderson got a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd, iirc.

12.) 18 Jun 2020 16:27:00
Andersson was a young proven starter with playoff experience when he was acquired for that. Demkos value is lower then what Anderssons was and there isn’t much of a need for goaltending around the NHL.

13.) 18 Jun 2020 20:27:09
Demko is a couple years younger than Andersen was at the time of his trade. He has less experience yes but this year was a big leap for him and he did not bad. I’d say with his higher pedigree he’s worth at least as much maybe more than Andersen at the time of his trade.

14.) 19 Jun 2020 08:50:26
Andersson also went a slight bit cheaper, as they were shopping him around. They had Gibson and Vegas draft coming.

Does Erik Karlsson have negative trade value?

dsc13

1.) 22 Feb 2021 03:22:56
Ya. I believe he doesn't. he's honestly a 2nd pairing dman at this point of his career.

15 Sep 2019 18:13:23
Is Yaroslav Askarov one of the best goalie prospects of all time? Do you guys think he is worthy of a top 5 pick this upcoming draft?

dsc13

1.) 15 Sep 2019 23:37:40
He is not the best goalie prospect of all time but if he has another great year this season he might be the highest ranked Russian goalie prospect of all time. It's too early to say where he will go in the draft but I think he at least has a shot to go in the top 15.

2.) 16 Sep 2019 03:22:10
Agreed and yeah i think he should be #4 or #5

3.) 16 Sep 2019 06:59:53
No goalie should ever be drafted anywhere near the top 5 (or top 10 prolly) . Goalies are way too big of a wildcard to waste such a high pick on what would otherwise have a very good chance of becoming a real impact skater.

4.) 16 Sep 2019 09:46:30
He would need to be a star in the KHL as an 17 year old to be worthy of a top 5 selection imo.

5.) 16 Sep 2019 15:54:50
MAF was pretty highly touted as a junior and rookie. 1st overall wasn’t he? How many goalies have been drafted in the first round since then I wonder? Doesn’t happen to very many goalies.

6.) 16 Sep 2019 18:15:31
Price and vasilievski come to mind. Dipeitro went 1st overall too but that was just before fleury I think.

7.) 16 Sep 2019 21:07:53
Price was super high coming into the draft. Where was Luongo drafted?

8.) 16 Sep 2019 22:12:44
If he comes out with another great season he could be 5-10, but yeah goalies are risky. In the last 20 years only a handful of goalies went in the first round, dipietro, MAF, price, bernier, Campbell, vas. think that’s it but only 3 of the 6 turned into starter or better goalies. I guess rask would be in there too. I dunno it’s risky but if they turn into a price MAF rask or vas then the team drafting will have struck gold or they could turn into a jack Campbell on the GM looks like a idiot.

9.) 17 Sep 2019 04:04:56
Luongo was drafted 4th but that was before fleury too.

10.) 17 Sep 2019 10:30:13
Yupp has good points.

11.) 17 Sep 2019 18:39:32
Samsanov and Knight are two recently drafted in the 1st round.

12.) 17 Sep 2019 22:59:07
Ya and they both looking decent but early to tell.

13.) 17 Sep 2019 23:07:49
As a GM I would always go for the best player available in the draft so if it happens to be a goalie then I would go for it. But I wouldn't reach for a goalie just because of positional needs. Like Florida's pick was risky since Knight was not the best player available, even tho he is solid.

14.) 18 Sep 2019 14:35:16
And they were going after goalie Bob. Kinda strange first round pick for Florida. Will it be hard for the to trade older Bob with that contract in maybe 3,4,5 years when Knight should be ready?

15.) 20 Sep 2019 10:43:50
I think the plan is to put Knight as a back up in 2-5 years when he's ready and to get him to gain experience and technique with Bob and maybe do a 1A 1B situation. With Knight on a ELC for 3 years+ the 3 years it's probably going take Knight to be ready, Bobrovsky contract would be over or closest to over by the time Knight is due for a bigger contract.

16.) 21 Sep 2019 16:20:47
Al Montoya was drafted in the first round.

02 Jul 2015 16:10:22
Should the Detroit Red Wings sign Joel Ward?

dsc13

1.) 03 Jul 2015 13:27:01
No chance. It's Ward or 5/6 RFAs including Nyquist.

Laine has high trade value whether you like it or not. He's actually pretty good and I'm not a Jets fan.
