Shut me down if need be, but McLeod would get a legit chance to play in Calgary, Zajac is getting up there plus Jersey is packed tight with centermen. Severson could probably be a top 2 dman in Calgary. The 2 1st round picks may be late 20s early 30th pick. With Tkachuk on an already better team would not only make the devils a force to be wreckened with to be a contender for multiple deep playoff runs but could probably even get Taylor Hall signed. Think about it realistically before you criticize

Also, if Calgary gives up Tkachuk it won’t be for a cap dump and high draft picks. Their stanley cup window is now.
Calgary already has insane centre depth.
Lindholm, Monahan, Bennett, Jankowski and Backlund.
All of those guys can play centre.
Zajac is the worst one on that list and will get sent to the AHL.

So Tkachuk for Severson, 2 AHL players for Calgary and draft picks that they don’t need.

Besides Tkachuk isn't even resigned yet and Calgary has just over 4.6 million and I doubt a player like Tkachuk is going to sign a 1 or 2 year deal worth 2.5 a year when Jersey has over 12 million and could offer more money and more term. Go ahead and hope he signs or Calgary doesn't lose a 21 yo left winger for nothing. Then those 2 draft picks would be a lost opportunity, especially 2 1st rounders and a couple AHL players as you say. Good Luck with that.

We didn't say he would. What we said was he could probably be a top 2 dman. Put him in net for all it's worth. I can almost guarantee if an offer sheet went toward Tkachuk it's going to be an offer he couldn't refuse and you lose him for nil. Or you can always match the offer sheet and rip your whole team apart to keep him. He's a great player whose going to want to win and win early in his career. You could sign him on a bridge deal and hope that you win now because if you don't win, he's gone and Treviling is either fired or scratching his head in worry and kicking himself in the Frank's and Beans for not taking an offer that included 2 first rounders and a couple youngsters who probably only need a change of scenery and a better opportunity to flourish in the NHL.

Calgary is not trading him. There window is now also so not trading one of there best players and wouldn't be losing him for nothing If they cant. Its 3 1sts if someone tries to sign him cause he gets 8mil or more . Plan is to trade Brodie. Then trade or buyout stone. They'll have plenty of room after that gets done.

I don't think Calgary would do this, but not sure if NJD could afford to do this either. Next year you need to sigh not just Hall, but Hischier as well - he needs a new deal for the 20-21 season.
After that you Need Gusev the year after for the 21-22 season (he might be really good if his production from the KHL transfers over) .
Then the following year you have Jack Hugues. I think with all these guys you might be in cap trouble sooner than you think.
I think NJD should stick with what they have put together (which looks really good right now) and try to resign their own guys in the future.
I don't think you really need Tkachuck at this time, but try to go for the offer sheet and get him. Might be more than two first round picks. Just don't be surprised if Calgary does the same to Jack Hughes.

Calgary trades 1 of their best players with insane potential for 2 AHL players, a right side defenceman WHICH THEY DON’T NEED! they have Brodie, Hamonic, Stone, Andersson on the right side and 2 draft picks when their Stanley Cup window is now.

Calgary gets nothing out of this.

Calgary would probably throw in Guadreau after the Lucic Trade. But no really Calgary probably takes this for sure that’s a lot close to what Lindros got. Honestly I’d say if I didn’t hate Severson and it was someone like Noah Dobson I’d take that for Marner all day.
