MTL Trades: Drouin + 3rd round pick

EDM trades: Puljujarvi + Russel(Cap reasons) + Bear

Oilers get a Top 6 forward who could turn it around with McDavid or Draisaitl.

Habs: Get a young replacement who could be happy to play with Kotkaniemi, a young Dman and veteran to help try and fill the LHD side.

Thoughts? Is this close? Who adds?

Not enough from the Oilers. Just because Pully was a high 1st he hasn't developed as one and is only worth a great return from some Edmonton fans. Pully is only worth a low 2nd at best.

I think Drouin could be great on the left side with. Ugh and Neal. Allowing to keep Drai and Mcdavid together.
Any little slump this and those five could be changed around in any way, would be nice. Russell and Bear could be our third pairing to start the season. Or at least two of our top 7. Leaving some holes. Only way I see a trade here is Nurse or Klefbom but both their value is more straight up. They want left side D, wonder if proposing Caleb Jones, Puljujärvi and an add in not a 1st would interest Bergavin. Probably not tho. I don’t see a deal here.

A cap dump, a bust, and a low end prospect does not get an nhl player, and especially not a top six player that is good for over 50 points and can play all positions.

Drouin is only over 50 points in a career year. Is useless defensively, a floater and a team cancer. Plus Montreal is trying to dump him. He won't return much.

Thank you for the feedback. I don’t think Puljujärvi has hit full bust territory ( Nowhere near the Yakupov debacle) .

So like was mentioned, he has value of a 2nd. I’d say Beat might be a 3rd and Russell isn’t a pure cap dump as he is still capable.

Would dropping the pick from the Habs side make it closer? What adds?

Not sure the Oilers would move Nurse or Klefbom so I don’t think that will necessarily be the return. Unless they feel Broberg will take one of their places soon.

I do feel this could be a fit, just going to need tweaking.

There’s a difference between trying to dump him and him being available in talks. If they were trying to dump him he’d be gone, they’d expect a low return and some team would be willing to take the chance on him.

Yupp, I think your counter proposal is good for Drouin. I'd do Pully, Caleb Jones plus maybe a Benson type player for Drouin? Is that a add on you would consider yupp?

Again, Puljujarvi, Jones, Benaon don’t get you a top six forward that scores 50+ points a year, signed multiple years at decent price. There’s a good chance none of these guys make the nhl as full time players. This trade weakens Montreal significantly.
