Not a bad start to this deal. New jersey may want a roster player back on this trade. Nothing terribly special just a middle of the pack forward like lehkonen.

Other than that this package seems pretty fair in value.

Jersey would get a better offer at the TDL as a rental which would include someone's first. There's not much incentive for NJ to trade him in this scenario.

If you want a quality player on a below market contract you need to start with quality going back. Not odds and ends that you think are all right.

Plus, Hall will want more than 9 for 6 years.

I don’t think Montreal have any interest in Hall unless he agrees to sign first, as stated. But then his trade value increases dramatically. More than what’s offered here. And Montreal won’t want to do that. They can just wait and sign him in the off season.

Get Hall by the deadline and you can give him that extra year so you can lower AAV a bit. but hey wait till he is a fee agent so you "might" be able to get a meeting with him. Why not get him earlier so he has time to fall in love with the organisation.

Giving up a bit of prospects and picks is well worth it to have a chance at having taylor hall long term

But hey wait till he is a free agent see how that works out.

I like the above trade proposal. Habs receive a top 30 NHL player in his prime. Jersey receives 2 young prospects with excellent upside.

Columbus traded for Panarin. How did that work out there Craigger? How about Dallas and Zuccarello? Winnipeg and Hayes? So why does Montreal trade anything to risk derail the rebuild for a stab in the dark shot at Hall? Because Hall is going to make them contenders? If Hall doesn’t want to stay in Jersey, what does Montreal have to offer him that makes him want to stay there?
