Let's get past the they won't trade to each other. Value wise I think this is fair as long as kapoyvreturns to his form from last year. That speed and dynamic of his play could go well with kotiknemi in the future.

I’m going to assume this is a trade for Petry right? If so, Do Habs need wingers and a replacement RHD for him?

I thought they were looking for C and LHD?

Value wise it's not bad considering Kappy is very fast and he's almost 8 years younger but need wise for MTL it's terrible. First of all, Petry is are #1 D and plays a crucial part in the leadership of this team while playing 23+ minutes a night! Second of all we need LHD not RHD. Also if were getting a forward in return, center would ideal since are wings are actually quite solid already and the center position is still not solid. Overall value wise might actually be unfair for Toronto since Kappy is younger and still has room to grow but needs wise MTL says no.

Petry would actually be really good for Rielly.
I feel bad for him, he’s a great D man and has never had a solid partner.

Petry definetly perfect for rielly. why would leafs want webers very bad contract. unless he retires in 2 years his contract sucks. petry improves leafs. kappy improves habs. ceci does nothing for anyone.

I have to disagree with you there VB. The leafs can not afford Weber, and Petry, although his contract does not have a lot of term, could be a great addition to the blue line. He would be much better than Ceci, and actually be worth the money the leafs would be paying him. I think with Moore and Mikiyev playing so well and Hyman coming back soon, Kapanen does become expendable. He is a guy a lot of teams could use, and I think the leafs could get a great Defenceman for him.

However, I would also prefer if that person was 27 or under, and locked in for longer term like Damon Severson or Brett Pesce.

Do they trade him now? Probably not. But if they continue to struggle defensively, I could see them making a move at the deadline or possibly a little sooner like in January when they got Jake Muzzin last year.

Draft picks sure. But not Kappenen he provides so much speed he’s just not going to be moved I could see Kerfoot or Johnsson moved before him.

Petry would be nice on the Leafs for sure! He is a bit older but would be #1RD on that team. Habs are pretty set on the wings and Ceci kinda is what he is now. I don't really see a fit here.
