Everyone is talking about hall to oilers let's get real it won't happen

If kreider doesn't resign with rangers

Rangers: Kreider

Oilers: 2nd round pick + prospect like Lagesson (2nd turn to 1st if oilers make if past 2nd round)

Or Oilers should go after toffoli

Oilers: Pulju , 2nd round + Gagner

Kings: Toffoli

Pulu window closed, so no more Pulu rumors till end of the season.

Hall to Oilers, yes a dream with the cap situation. Hall to the Habs has way more merit.

With the draft supposed to be a better one this year, teams probably want to keep their 1st round picks.

Don't think Tofoli is a bad target, but don't see Gagner on an expiring contract as something LA would want.

Puljujarvi could definitely be added in a trade this season. Hall to Montreal doesn’t make much sense to me. I’m surprised it gets talked about as much as it does. And Gagner in the trade is for cap reasons obviously LA wouldn’t have much need for him.

Hanger is not an nhl player anymore. He is an AHL player who gets called up occasionally to fill in. Even Oiler’s know he is finished. He might get lucky and get a minimum paying one year contract next year, but for most part he is finished in the nhl.

I’m guessing your Gagner comment is coming from someone that doesn’t watch him play. He has skill and grit/ work ethic. I think he’s an NHL player and if he can get good on the PK he’d be able to play for a few more seasons. I think he makes the team better but I could see with his age and the young players coming up him not getting resigned.

He’s been in the AHL every year for the last five or six years including this one has he not?

Gagner is terrible. Especially for the money he makes and when they play him in the top 9. He should be a 13th forward for $900K at most. Good attitude extra forward to travel with the team and be a healthy scratch 55/ 82 games if the year. That’s it. He doesn’t make any team “better” with that price tag.

He’s only really spent one half season in the AHL but yeah due to his age and role he’s been on the outside looking in for the past few seasons. He’s also two seasons removed from 50 points. I do agree with him being overpaid obviously but that’s not what we’re talking about. He’s the guy they have filling in on the 2nd line while Nuge is out. He has the skill to play with good players.

I would compare his situation to Tyler Ennis. Hopefully he can grind out a couple more seasons.

Ennis is making $800K on a one year deal.
Gagner is on the last year of a 3 year $3.15M deal. Not sure their situations are the same. And with the retained salary from the Gagner Spooner trade to make the trade even money wise Gagner is basically costing $4M. For 1G 4A in 16 games. While getting a ton of top 6 I’ve time.
I would highly disagree with him having the skill to play a top six role. He’s a good person, good for the locker room, but he’s not a top six player nor does he make a team
Any better what so ever, especially at that price. Next year he can make $900K and be a useful 4th liner to someone. That’s where he belongs.

I’m assuming you won’t see this but I’m going to say it anyway. Lol I’m not disagreeing with his salary. Again that’s not what this is about. For the second time. I think it’s similar to Ennis because they both were solid skill NHLers earlier in there careers and now at 30 there barely getting contracts. He doesn’t get tons of top 6 minutes? He’s filling in top 6 right now for an injury yes. He’s usually not one of the guys they plug in the top 6 and I think he should be though. And he also barely gets PP time only because the first PP gets pretty much the full 2 minutes.
