Why would a playoff bound team like the Jets want to trade away roster players for futures? Wouldn’t they rather be buyers of free agents at the deadline. That makes more sense to me.

This is a trade that would be great for the Jets to do but I would change Niku for an A forward they have in the minors as the Jets can't afford to trade any d-men at this time.

That would be nice, but the Jets would be better off trying to move forwards for a defenseman. They need to add good defensemen, not move any out.

They are so fixated on getting Dobson they don’t even recognize the team gets weaker in a contention year, and don’t even know if Dobson is going to be better than Niku.
