Saw this trade as a possible offseason deal assuming Marc Staal or Brendan Smith willing to be waive NTC:

NY Rangers Trade:
Georgiev
Smith or Staal

Detroit Trades:
3rd Round Pick (From Sharks)

Rangers get a pick and clear cap space. Detroit gets a young Goalie so they can let Howard go.

Who adds? May be an off-season deal?
Any other suggestions on a Georgiev to Detroit Trade?

Kinda reminds me of the Grubauer trade. Are smith/ staal supposed to be cap dumps? Is that why you are only sending them a third? Because even in the Grubauer trade Washington still got a second even though Orlov didn’t have as bad a contract as staal or smith.

I’m sorry, but with Lundqvist’s age, I see zero reason the Rangers trade Georgiev.

Yeah I was only sending a 3rd was because it was supposed to be similar to the Grubauer trade.

Also Detroit’s 1st is too high an ask and our 2nd is essentially a late 1st as well. So that’s why I was aiming for a 3rd round range.

I agree that Lundquist’s age is up there but they have an even better prospect in Shestorykin coming up close. Which may result in one of Georgiev or Shettorykin having to be moved at some point.

I feel Georgiev may be the more likely trade candidate. Plus they can use cap space to resign other key players.

Yah Shettoykin is the guy not a bad offer I think Detroit possibly adds a sweetener.

Well I’m wondering if Detroit adds, Would Rangers do this mid-season if we threw in Howard @ 50% retained.

They can run Lundquist- Howard tandem and May even re-sign Howard as he’s from Rochester, NY. So it could be a nice temporary tandem until Shestorykin is ready?

Just another thought.
