Lol. Petry is far to old and only a year away from UFA to have close to the value of even one of the Jet pieces.

Caufield is tiny and not needed in the least by the Jets

Fleury is a bottom pairing guy, so not much value as the Jets have tons of bottom pair guys.

Pionk=Petry, Fleury

Ehlers=Caufield

That’s why I figured it was a good trade because Fleury will be better Pionk by 2022.

So this is funny, last year lots of people were salivating at the chance to get Caufield, now people are saying he has no value. On the Petry note, he is getting old but teams will still pay a pretty penny for him as he is still a solid top 4 D that can step up to the top pair for a period of time. And as of now Fleury is a bottom pair D but as a 20 year old. Has a potential to be a Jacob Slavin type D. I don’t see either team doing this as Jets are going to be in a quick retool and will keep young stars. And Habs should wait on some of there prospects and keep low until Boston, Tampa and leafs fall off a bit.

I think if the habs give up caufield at this point it would be as part of a package for an actual difference maker.

The Jets would never make trade like this which would make them much weaker. The Jets need defense so Pionk won't be traded and Ehlers alone is better than this weak collection of unproven garbage.

Only reason people say Caufield has little value. if he was a prospect of a different team, say Dallas or Chicago ect. people would be saying he will be a future 40 goal man.

You guys commenting obviously don't know anything about the Canadiens and their players. As a habs fan I would never make this trade for a bottom six D man in Pionk and a below par winger. Caufield will end up being a better goal scorer than Elhers and Fleury will be a better D man than Pionk. Garbage trade for Habs.

Islandjet and Memarcusjoe are right here. This trade is very bad for the jets. I wouldn't touch this.
