Rangers look at it and laugh Kakko alone is worth more. ELC potential superstars are invaluable next year if he gets the top line RW spot with Paniran and Zibby expect PPG Numbers not to mention he’s also exempt from the expansion. Rielly obviously has lots of value but he isn’t worth Kakko let alone Deangelo and the 1st being worth more then Kappy and Kerfoot. Also what would Deangelo bring he’s a 1 dimensional PP guy the opposite of what the leafs need and the leafs trade their best dman for a winger as the main piece? This is a rare proposal where it is absolutely awful for both teams value wise it’s stupid for the rangers and they are not in win now mode while trading debatably their best prospect in history and this makes the leafs already sad defence absolutely Putrid.

Sorry Pinball, but its jus not very good. No way the Rangers are going to trade Kakko after jus 1 (partial) season.

Vbb has it all backwards. This is a good deal for both teams.
Rangers get a star too line left shot defenceman they desperately need. They don't need DeAngelo and while it's still far too early to call Kakko a bust, he didn't exactly have a great rookie season. Kapanen is far better right now and playing beside Panarin and Zib could easily be a 60-70 point player himself. Not to mention Rangers also get Kerfoot as well.
As for Leafs, Reilly is obviously better than DeAngelo. But having DeAngelo on the right side makes the Leafs a better team overall because it strengthens the weak right side, without weakening the left side as much (because they have Muzzin, Dermott, Sandin) so defense overall strengthens. The loss of offense from the two forwards is so what offset by the addition of Kakko, but more importantly, the Leafs also gain cap space that they will need to sign Andersen and Hyman after next season.
So this is one of those rare trades that actually benefits both teams in a big way. Vbb wouldn't hesitate to give up Marner for Parayko, so even he must admit that Kakko is worth Reilly.

Wow someone agrees with my trade proposal, St. LouisFan sees it the way I do completely as this truly helps both Teams.
From the Leafs side of it
Kakko replaces Kerfoot
Barabonov replaces Kapanen
Lehtonen replaces Rielly
DeAngelo replaces Barrie
Plus adding at least 6m in Cap after DeAngelo is resigned only strengths re-signing key guys and added maybe a Gudas to replace Ceci, plus Sandin and Liljegren are there as well.
For the Rangers
It quickens the rebuild with what they already have in place as these 3 players aren't throw ins they are legit NHLers.
For some reason most don't see the positive for both teams if this trade happened.

Not horrible, I think weather this is fair or not depends on how good Kakko is. Kakko is still young so I don't see the Rangers doing this. That said, Leafs probably don't do it either. Our strongest position is RW, so Kakko is the last thing we need. Overall, I would have to say the value is only slightly in favour of NYR, if at all. Not a bad prop for sure.

Why this is an a awful trade-
A. Favours leafs value wise
B. Kakko is a core piece for Rangers and exempt from expansion draft. Had a decent rookie season similar to Sevechnikov. His value is sky high due to his ELC he is probably worth more then anyone on the leafs besides Mathews and maybe Marner due to the rangers.
C. Kerfoot doesn’t help the Rangers at all there is so many young players in the pipeline trying to crack the roster and he just prevents that. They wouldn’t take him for free.
D. Why do the leafs need another RW next season will be a big year for Kakko which would mean he’d demote Nylander to the 3rd line. Kappanen certainly isn’t better then him. This year he was raw but he’ll produce much more points next year that I can promise.
E. Rielly is the leafs best dman and defence is their weakest position
F. Just because Deangelo shoots right doesn’t mean he’d help the leafs such an ignorant statement. The leafs need a minute munching shut down guy and he is perhaps the most 1 dimensional dman in the league he was moved to the wing on multiple occasions. Good on the PP tho but that’s not what is needed on the leafs. He plays exactly like Tyson Barrie and look how that turned out.

Why doesn’t he help the team? Good power play guy but awful defensively like I said the leafs need a shut down guy and DeAngelo was moved to the wing because he was so awful in his own end. The leafs already have Rielly and Sandin for the pp there is absolutely no need whatsoever for DeAngelo. He’s a PP specialist the leafs do not need.
