So me and my friend were talking about what we think would be the best power play in the NHL. Mine was :

Alex Ovechkin - Connor McDavid - Patrik Laine

Mark Giordano - Dougie Hamilton

What do you guys think would be the best power play?

Not bad, But Mark Giordano is 36 years old and declining. And you could say Liane is not good enough yet.

Replace Giordano with Crosby and that’s better.

So replace Gio with Crosby?

Ovechkin - McDavid - Crosby

Laine - Hamilton

How about that?

In the best PP you want a balance of right to left shot ideally a QB who can make the smart initial pass. Someone who provides a net front presance is absolutely essential and a office guy like Ovie/ Laine/ Mathews makes a pp elite especially if you have a duel threat shoot pass guy on the other side. The players you’d ice out also completely depends upon strategy. Let’s say we do umbrella I’d choose these lines.

Paniran-Crosby-Kane
Ovechkin-Yandel/ Dahlin

Yandel obviously sticks out but he has quietly been the most productive PP dman over the past couple years. Also McDavid sticks out obviously due to not making that but he excels at playing at the fastest pace where Crosby and Kane play better in slow pace ( they bring meaning to the term slow the game down.

I'd like

Ovi. McDavid Kucherov

John Carlson. Shea Weber.

What top PP uses 2 dman besides San Jose?

24 May 2020 07:30:10
Giordano? Hamilton?
Guess you've never seen Hedman or Karlsson/ Carlson run a PP, eh?

Also, how are Stamkos and/ or Kucherov not on this low, how?

I'd go with

Ovechkin Malkin Kucherov
Crosby Karlsson.

But again, there's a ton of players that belong in this convo: Crosby, Stamkos, Pastrnak, MacKinnon, Matthews, Laine, .
