Tor: Korpisalo
Clb: Andersen 3rd

Pretty obvious Freddy leaves Ufa and Korpisalo exposed to Seattle

Both teams get something instead of potentially nothing for their respected goalies

I don’t see how that’s obvious I don’t think any analyst said he’ll leave.

So, CBJ gets a more expensive goalie that needs a new even more expensive UFA contract in a year, while giving up a cheaper RFA goalie all for a 3rd.

This deal virtually guarantees that CBJ gets nothing but a higher cap hit via a season while Toronto gets a goalie with RFA rights to keep.

I'd have to think CBJ says no pretty easily.

Well the obvious part would probably be Andersen wanting too much $$ in combination with TORs cap situation.

Korpisalo to Seattle? Isn't merzilinkis a rookie this year? So he'll be a 2 year pro, which is exempt? Are the rules different this time?

22 Jun 2020 13:45:06
@The_Triplets the leafs can make room.

22 Jun 2020 15:44:21
@Memarcusjoe Korpy is a ufa a year after andersen so the 3rd makes up for the extra year. Plus freddy has more playoff experience than korpy hence why only a third is added on to balance put the diff in contract duration.

Sorry Adan, I missed that Korpisalo had an extension in place already.

Still CBJ, is giving up a goalie that is 4 years younger, with a better save percentage this year and a better contract to get an older goalie that has looked ordinary in the playoffs and will be looking for a large UFA contract next year.

I don't see a 3rd enticing them as then they have to sign goalie to expose in the ED. Why do the Leafs a huge favour and screw themselves at the same time and only get a 3rd for it?

22 Jun 2020 20:44:55
Eh, even if Fred is a UFA, this is his first down season in a while. while this Is korpisalos first season above .900 in 3 yeaes. Freddie is older but is also the much better goalie being .909 vs Korpisalos .911 in 14extra games is not that much, especially when considering the past seasons where Fred has held a .918 while Korpisalo has had a .897. I’d rather just hold on to Fred, and I’m def not adding a pick, i’d rather just do a straight swap if anythinh.

@VB: Would be very tricky and it's not something I'd do if I was the Leafs. As a TB fan, I'd love for TOR to make room to sign Andersen to a big deal lol.

23 Jun 2020 16:28:35
What’s the most hell sign for? 6 million?

25 Jun 2020 08:10:48
Lol you wish. 8mil easily if he has a solid season to bargain on. In what world does a goalie Leafs fans and media constantly hype up as a top 10 goalie in the league sign for half of what AM makes? Delusional, VB.
