The Brodin trade is a no go for the Jets while Dumba woul d be a great trade target but he has to show he has returned to the player he was before his injury. Two years ago in the playoffs he was a dynamo against the Jets never coming off the ice. He alone kept the games closer then they should have been, but now he's not worth Ehlers straight up in a trade.

Funny you guys saying 5 years of Ehler is worth more than 2 or 3 years of Brodin or Dumba but you expect Leafs to pay Nylander for the same players. How is it that Ehlers is worth more than those guys but Nylander isn't?

I find it funny that you conveniently ignore that Jet fans have have never expected the Leafs to pay Nylander for Dumba or Brodin. Also, that you conveniently ignore that Nylander is overpaid by a little more than $1 mil/ season and has one less year on his contract. You're saying cap hit and contract length have no bearing on deals?

Because Nylander's comparables are RFA contracts like Ehlers and Pasternak not UFA contracts and another bad RFA contract. Being paid more than both of those guys, while only signing a 6 year contract as opposed to 7 or 8 makes him overpaid. If it was at least a 7 year contract, it would be fine.

Uhh those contracts were all signed before Nylander. Raising escrow leads to more expensive contracts. It’s like comparing Crosby’s contract to McDavids.
