A lot of moving pieces but with Eichel unhappy in Buffalo, Devils wanting to improve sooner than later getting the best player in the proposal and the Leafs fixing there RSide on Defense plus adding Zacha it's a proposal that helps all 3 Teams.

Thoughts ?

It's a 3 way trade proposal that actually makes sense for Cap and each Team's needs.
With all the weird time off Teams have time to come up with weird deals.
As for Bracco no he isn't part of my proposal.

I mean we lose Kapanen, Dermott and Kerfoot along with who I think is an underated prospect in Duszak. Gauthier is just a throw in and we have Brooks now who can take over for him.

In return we get a solid RHD in Seversonwhich is what you would expect giving up Kapanen

We get a young player in Jokiharju which is what you would expect when offering Dermott

Then we get player who hasn’t really found his stride quite yet but still has some time and could probably use a fresh start for a proven 40 point player, an underated prospect who imo will make the NHL in the next 2 years, and a decent bottom 6 forward.

I mean the leafs may need to add a little bit but what we get in return for what is offered is very close to fair imo.

No kidding, this is a typical Pinball deal. Toronto makes out like bandits and the opposing GM is always making a trade that would instantly get them fired.

Well, I'll give you that NJ doesn't come out too bad, but only because they and up with by far the best player.

But looking at what Toronto gets compared to what they give, it's easy to see they make out as bandits.

Jokiharju> Dermott - Joki is younger, already better, RD and has an extra year on his contract.

Zacha>Kerfoot - Zacha is at least equal in skill with Kerfoot, but younger with a better contract and still RFA when his contract expires.

Severson>Kapanen - top 4 RHD is worth more than a bottom 6 winger.

Duszak and Gauthier don't help or hinder, they're just dime a dozen players that all teams have many of, so have no real value.

So, Toronto gives up 3 meaningful players, but manages to get a nice upgrade on each one. In other words they make out like bandits.

Lololol Kapanen a bottom six winger hahaha 😂. If Kapanen is a bottom 6 winger then Roslovic is an AHL lifer lol. He will easily get you Severson as he is younger, on a great contract and is an RFA when it expires, and he would probably be playing top 6 and putting up 50-60 points if Nylander or Marner weren’t leafs.

I’m tired of people underestimating all leafs players on this site it’s gotten to the point where not even Reilly is worth much to most people on here even though he is Locked up for 3 more years on one of the best contracts in the league.

Also Dermott > Jokiharju imo. He has more experience, way better defensively, broke into the NHL way earlier and was much better when he did, and will get a great contract that for some reason everyone will rip on if it’s given to him by the leafs. Just because Jokiharju has 1 year left on his ELC doesn’t mean much especially when Dermott’s next deal will likely be in the 1.5-2.5 million dollar range depending on length.

When Laine gets a bridge deal it’s “one of the best contracts ever”. Just wait till he asks for 10 mill then we will se whose laughing lol.

Duszak had over a point per game in the ECHL as a defenceman and had 18 points in 23 games in the AHL. Reminder this is a RHD, who is 22 years old, and who will likely be playing in the NHL within the next 2 years. Saying he is worth nothing is totally bull crap.

I understand that sometimes you may not like trade because they aren’t awesome for your team, but that’s not how the NHL works. New Jersey and Buffalo would be thrilled with what they are getting in return for what they are giving up.

Buffalo basically gets 4 really good young players to have for the future. New Jersey gets 2 proven MIDDLE SIX players who can boost their scoring a lot more and who could play with Eichel. Oh ya, and not to mention a top 10 player in the league.

I know this trade is super unlikely, but I’m just sick and tired of everyone undervaluing leafs players. It’s gotten ridiculous. Leafs players aren’t garbage, and they are worth a lot more then a lot of you think.

Themostleaf- Severson>Kappanen but I do agree with him being a 50 point player with Marner or Nylander. You’re overvaluing the other players and I’m a leafs fan.

Kapanen is a middle six winger. Severson is a top 4 RHD. He’s a couple years older but he’s also a D so it doesn’t give him less value compared to Kapanen IMO. They also put up similar offence the past couple years. Severson easily has more value.

I will agree certain guys over exaggerate leafs players values but no one thinks Reilly has no value and no one has said that. He doesn’t even get mentioned in trades.

Jokijarju is 2 and a half years younger and broke into the league at a younger age so your wrong. He obviously has more value. Just take them out of the trade if you disagree, simple.

This prospect is 22 playing in the ECHL? He could very well turn into a good player but he doesn’t have very much value.

You guys have your opinions, I have mine. Imo the stats don’t lie as Dermott is a much better overall defenceman then Jokiharju.

Kapanen would be playing top 6 one basically any other team and putting up 50-60 points.

I thought he stayed up though VB? I tried to look it up and found that he played almost 600 minutes with Matthews that year. His most common line mates were Matthews then Marleau then Kadri.
