Okay so let me explain something to you. The left side defence in Toronto is going to look like this next year:

However, the leafs also have Lehtonen and Dermott in the system. Trading Kapanen and Dermott and not receiving a proper RHD would be a really dumb move by leafs management.

I know you think Fleury in NHL ready, but he is bottom pairing at best. We don’t need another guy like that when we already have Holl and Liljgren who can fill in there. The leafs will want a true top 4 RHD. They simply don’t recieve that in this trade. Leafs pass.

According to themostleaf33 and vbbb, the price for Kapanen starts at a top 10 first round pick AND a blue-chip A+++ prospect. So, you're a little light. Think McDavid +, it's Leaf fans you're dealing with.

Also if Goodrow can fetch a first I’m 100% sure Kapanen could do the same.
