Jets make this move if they're confident that Nylander can play C and become their 2C. Leafs get a young mid 6 F that may potentially become a 2C or 2RW and since he's an RFA he'll make substantially less then Nylander so Leafs save cap space. The swap of 1st Round Picks make up the difference.

Leafs pass. Moving up 5 spots in the draft isn’t worth giving up and elite player in Nylander for a 3rd liner is Roslovic.
Let me put it this way, if the Jets had the 15th pick and the leafs had the 10th, would the Jets give up Ehlers while the leafs add on Kerfoot? I really don’t think so.

Nylander is too soft to play center and disappears when the games get tough. No interest in him from Winnipeg. Nylander is the new Thomas Vanish.

Nylander is very good but not elite. Elite shows up and dominates playoffs.

Uh Colt Nylander had 4 points in the 5 leafs games against the Blue Jackets. He definitely showed up.

Good trade for the Jets as they could bundle some other players, draft choices and roster pieces with Nylander and then flip them to get a player the Jets really would want and need. Thanks Jaxon1.

Franchise players show up and dominate playoffs
Elite players compliment the franchise players but have a high end skill set
the rest are role players but still a million times better at hockey than all of you. Very rude ever insulting a players hockey ability or calling the garbage.
Nylander is elite due to his special offencive skill set. Every team has 3-6 elite players. 20 teams have a franchise player. some teams have 2.
As for this trade. winnipeg wouldn't receive pittsburghs pick.
