This could be a classic sign and trade deal as it seems Pietrangelo just doesn't fit Cap Wise with The Blues, The Leafs get there stud RHanded Defenceman and with Lehtonen coming in it still gives them a solid LHanded Defense.

I would try nylander and a3rd, but only if you talk contract first.

It weakens your biggest strength, but turns your biggest weakness into strength.

If Toronto just signs petro (who will have 29 teams asking after him), they're going to be in cap trouble. You'll have 4 players making over 40mil, plus nylander, andersson, reilly, and there's not much room left for the rest of the team.

Just signing him, yes cap trouble. But that doesn’t mean you throw a player like Rielly at the blues as a cap dump to make space for a guy you can sign for free in 2 weeks.

You sign Petro and then trade other pieces in deals that make sense. Trading Rielly to make space for AP in insane. That just shifts weakness from R to L.
