Not sure if these are supposed to be our own ideas, but I heard a part of this on the radio then thought more about it.

Blues are apparently comfortable in the $8Mx8YR for Pietrangelo but don’t want massive upfront bonuses.

He’s RHD, they already have Parayko and Faulk signed long term there.

Their LHD is weaker.

Long time STL assistant GM Bill Armstrong just got the GM job in ARI and is apparently taking calls on all players over 25yrs old.

OEL is LHD, a year younger than AP, already signed to $8.25M for the next 7 years and only owed $9M bonuses total over that contract.

Bill Armstrong would know the Blues prospects better than anyone else in the league to work out a trade and the Blues would get a similar player to AP but on the side that’s more needed for them, already signed to their ideal contract.

To me it makes a ton of sense to explore if AP walks as a UFA.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Colt a Blues fan? Or just saying?

And do you want to keep AP or fine with him walking?

Colt is the blues GM. I don’t think it’s a bad idea but St. Louis may need to address some scoring depending on the health of Tarasenko.

Toronto17 -okay, good to know that about Colt! makes sense that D isn’t their top priority. I just thought it made sense to spend same money/ term on similar age D on the side they needed it more than Pietrangelo. Like I said though, wasn’t really my idea but found it compelling.

I understand your reasoning, but their LD looks pretty well stocked without OEL, and they don't have the cap space for him anyway. My guess is that they let Pietrangelo walk.

Blues have 2 young guys coming up on lhd. So oel is a luxury they can not afford.
