Savard as a 30 year old rental wouldn't hold much value to Winnipeg, and Gavrikov as a bottom pairing LD isn't anything Winnipeg needs. Columbus would need a better add to Dubois if they want Laine and Roslovic.

The Jets couldn't fit this trade into their cap. The Jets take on $12 mil while Columbus adds Laines $6.75 mil. and maybe Roslovic's $1.5 mil.

Value wise Laine and Scheifele for Dubois and Savard would be more like it.

But that'll never happen. Just the most obvious reasons why not:

1. There's no way Columbus trades Dubois unless they're getting a 1st line center back. In Winnipeg that's Scheifele.
2 Winnipeg doesn't want to trade Scheifele.
3. Neither Laine or Scheifele are the elite players Winnipeg fans like to think they are.
4. Laine doesn't have much value in Tortorella's defense first system and Laine wouldn't want to play in that system anyhow.

Going back to the original proposal. A two way first line center has far more value than a one dimensional winger who's only good on offense. That's without even taking into consideration Dubois' contract situation is far better too! In addition Columbus certainly won't be trading Gavrikov for a bottom six forward. It'd take a lot more than that to get him.

Absolutely terrible for Columbus.
