I would think Dermott and Engvall would be more than enough for Virtanen. No need for Toronto to add a pick IMO.

Kerfoot for Bennett is pretty reasonable, def could see it happening. I like Kerf more, but for the 1M in cap savings makes it tempting for the Leafs and would likely be an ideal get.

Virtanen deal is a hard no-go though. Virtanen's in Greens doghouse and has been for a while now, and his value is probably like Engvall and a 4th. Even then, his cap hit for his production is kinda hard to swallow for a team like the Leafs, so I'd want to say no either way.

Elliote wrote in his 31 thoughts podcast that the leafs were interested in some sort of a top9-6 forward, and if I'd be guessing, I'd say one of Bennett, Kempe, Alex Iafallo or Rickard Rakell, the latter two likely getting a Muzzin type return (1st + Korshkov [equiv to grundstrom imo] + Hollowell/ Niemela/ Kokonnen [equiv to Durzi, imo]) . Spitballing tho, and Bennett's def the cheapest get out of the bunch.

Why would the leafs want Virtanen? Why? There is absolutely nothing he’d bring the leafs like not a single thing. Virtanen would pass waivers.

I really haven’t seen a lot of Virtanen casual but that seems like a lot for him based on stats alone. I know he’s a big guy and has had a couple decent seasons but Dermott has looked good also in past seasons. Engvall is a pretty solid 3-4 liner IMO also.
