Burke and Hextall might be looking to rebuild the penguins if they don't perform. One of their superstar C's childhood team is the Montreal Canadiens. However unlikely this trade is to happen, I think PIT's GM takes a long hard look at this one.

MTL : Caufield, Guhle, Danault, 2021 1st, 2022 1st, Conditional 2nd (Becomes 4th if Danault re-signs)

PIT : Crosby

As a Habs fan I say no. Crosby is really good still, however he is no longer the force he once was. i'm not even sure Habs could afford this, due to salary cap., without making other moves that would hurt the team
As much as I've always wanted Crosby in a Habs uniform, its to late in his career. now if Habs could somehow figure a way to get 97 while he is in his prime? Lol.

I don’t know Sosa, I’d do it. Crosby still has some solid years ahead of him. Montreal has a good prospect pool from what I’ve heard. Giving up some of the future while Price and Weber are still at the top of their game might be worth it.

Cap would be an issue, yes. The habs would need to move both Byron and Kulak.

If Montreal does this they will be like the Maple Leafs of the last 20 years lol.

Crosby is better than Sosa gives credit for, but I wouldn't do it either. Crosby might be worth the package, but mtl shouldn't give up that package. Take out caufield and add your cap dumps, if pit says no, then no.

Oh I think Crosby is still a great player. still a top guy in the league. i'm just not prepared to mortgage the future for a couple years of Crosby. All the things that would have to happen to make this trade happend, would more than likely wreck the strength the Habs have. the depth of the team.

I agree Sosa. This is the kind of trade that teams regret sooner than later. Crosby will give them a shot at the cup. But the window closes faster if you give up under 30 players, and get crosby.

Pittsburgh won't be trading Crosby, he's a Penguin for life.

Malkin maybe. Montreal's weakness right now is Suzuki and Kotkamiemi are so young. Malkin is declining but he's still good enough to take the pressure off the young guys and give them more time to grown into their roles.

It wouldn't be for as big a package and Pittsburgh might have to retain some salary to make a trade work but Malkin could be exactly what Montreal needs.
