I am a Canuck fan, and would take Smith plus over Hughes, all day everyday, but hey, what do I know just a 51 season suffering fan, without a clue on huge defensive liabilities.

Publicity is important, and flashy gets you that. Hughes brings in lots of money already for van. Plus it hurts your organization signing players in the future, trading Hughes now.

Also hirschier is just a bonus for van, as he'd be 3c.

I don’t think Canucks move Hughes. He’s already proved to be skilled offensively and is young enough to develop defensively. Just needs time. I honestly think they should just move Virtanen for a low pick.
