A. Lilijgren>>Bennets I bet Bennet doesn’t even bring back a 2nd. Let alone one of the best shutdown D prospects in the NHL. ( he plays huge defensive minutes in AHL and probably makes the leafs next season.
B. Travis Dermott> Glendening he is important to the leafs moving forward.
C. Why would the leafs ever want tinordi. This makes the leafs a far worse team with Dermott gone. Dermott can fill in anywhere in lineup and fit in if he needs to even top pairing Tinordi sucks and wouldn’t make lineup over Rasmus Sandin
D. With Bennet at 3C the leafs can wish their playoff hopes good bye.

You managed to somehow make the leafs a worse team good job.

First one is too much for Bennett, second one is probably not enough for Crouse, and i haven't really watched the players in the last two enough to evaluate them.

Imo, that's way too many slow players in the offence with Glendening, Thornton, Spezza, Simmonds and Crouse, on top of a Tinordi/ Bogosian anchor legs pairing. Against EDM/ WPG the Leafs bottom six would get eaten alive in an icing situation or away games (last change) .

I personally don't see the fascination with adding all of these big 'grrr' guys like Lawson Crouse and Sam Bennett (at that price at least, I wouldn't mind Bennett for less, but Liljegren's just too much imo) . Crouse is nothing more than a 3rd/ 4th liner that hits people and doesn't really do much on the offence, and more importantly, doesn't have the foot speed that guys like a Blake Coleman or Miles Wood would have. He's fine, but for a team already employing Spezza/ Thornton/ Simmonds as slow guys, I really don't want to add Crouse to the mix.

Also, this is probably biased, but I love Galchenyuk. I wouldn't trade him for Tinordi, if you've watched Leafs games he's much closer in effort to Hyman than Nylander, and he's been really good on the forecheck/ backcheck, even if it hasn't accumulated to many goals. That's probably just personal bias, but I'd really hate to trade Galchenyuk away.

The Glenndenning deal value wise is possibly close if there is a bidding war and teams have to sweeten the offers. Chances are we are looking at a 4th-3rd round pick range as a base

He’s not as fast as he used to but not as slow as the others he’s compared to based on age. It’s the intangibles he brings in terms of strong face off and PK that can shift in the bottom six to regain momentum.

I agree somewhat topshelf. The cost can’t be a lot for players like that, but I do believe they could use one more guy like that. Bennett can at least skate. They keep talking about finding a winger for Tavares and Nylander, maybe they need to find a winger for Tavares and Galchenyuk, bahaha.

That’s true. I’ve just heard mediocre stuff about Liljegren from leafs fans, I’ll look into him more.

Lilijgren is valuable but his offensive numbers haven’t been impressive. He’s an insanely good skater and has a great hockey IQ. People trash him because of his lack of production but he is in the mold of Ryan Murray. Solid minute munching dman who isn’t flashy but has the skating to be.

01 Apr 2021 10:54:10
@nylander thanks for that, I’ll be sure to watch him now. Sorry for the trash trades.

Kinda sounds like Liljegren is similar to Kylington. Kylington is an elite skater with very high hockey iq. He needs to be given a better chance.

Both were projected top 5 picks Thad fell I definitely wouldn’t say they are equal value but both are great skaters. Lili is the better defensive player i'd imagine.

Ya, Liljegren has been extremely impressive and I’ve heard that leafs brass have really kinda shifted their view of him. He was projected to have better offensive numbers and so he hasn’t been getting the attention around the league that you would hope. But the way his game has rounded out and the growth in his defensive game has made him tougher for the leafs to move I think. Great skater with defensive awareness in a young RHD is tough to replace.

And when you look at depth on the L and R side for the leafs D in the next cpl years, you could argue he’s more important than Sandin. On the LD they have Muzzin locked up, Rielly will be re-signed, they have Dermott who is cheap and has taken a step. On the RD they have Brodie, and then Holl with only a year left and a candidate for Seattle to take and then Bogosian who is a UFA. I think Liljegren should be kept unless it’s in a package for a perfect longer term fit.
