San Jose Trades
Hertl (50% of Contract Retained)
6th Round Pick 2021

Toronto Trades
Kerfoot
Sandin (AHL)
1st Round Pick 2021
2nd Round Pick 2021

Toronto would solidify the Top 6 with this move.

No from San Jose, Hertl alone with no retention can get the 1st, 2nd, Sandin and Kerfoot imo.

You have put Hertl as a Top 10 player in the entire NHL with that comment which he isn't at all, solid good player but not worth a Kings ransom, The Sharks are going into rebuild and Hertl is a great piece to start this process, people on here imo only look at the NHL Players as part of the trade proposal, Sandin is a Top Prospect who will be an NHLer next season, a 1st Round Pick isn't a throw in, it's a top trade piece including a 2nd Round Pick which I added for the retention which is the going price in this situation, only thing I would change is to exchange the 6th Round Pick for Patrick Marleau as he would be a depth forward but what he brings to the club house is huge for The Leafs.

Their we go again with NotACasual
Saying yet again another ignorant comment there is only 5 teams in NHL who can currently take on Hertls full cap hit. and this trade would put the leafs over the cap by a pretty scary margin so no Hertl without retention couldn’t get that because there is this thing the nhl uses called a salary cap and due to flat cap players don’t get traded without retention.

I really think leafs should try to keep Kerfoot and Sandin and just make a move for someone like Miles Wood.

01 Apr 2021 17:18:34
The leafs can’t afford wood without moving Kerfoot or Mikheyev.

Miles Wood?
He is a bottom 6 forward who wouldn't fit under the cap with no player going the other way, plus who is he taking the place off the main roster?
The Leafs are in a position to win it all this year, they will be trading for an impact player imo, not a player like Wood.

Pinball, I don’t want to bust your bubble but just in the North division there is 2 teams that are better built for the playoffs then the leafs: Canadiens and the Jets. The Leafs are going to be a great regular season team for a long time . Unfortunately that’s all they are going to be. They just don’t have enough heart to go far in the playoffs. You need passion, determination and willingness give it all you got. When I watch the Leafs against Mtl I see a great talented group of players that play like the world owes them something. Good for them if they are able to win a playoff round but I doubt it.

01 Apr 2021 23:18:15
Pinball I guess, but tbh I don’t think they will. Is it worth giving up future pieces and put themselves in a tricky cap situation if they don’t do well?

02 Apr 2021 14:49:10
I’ll bet any amount of money the leafs sweep Montreal and beats the Jets in 5-6.

The Leafs are 3-1 against the Habs and have played them pretty damn well. Sure thy don't outhit them, but most of the scoring chances and shots normally favor the Lefs. If by intangibles we're talking vets, we have that in Thornton, Spezz, Bogo and Simmonds. If we're talking 'grit', we have Simmonds, Hyman, etc. I don't really know how you've watched the last four leafs games versus MTL and seen a team without passion, determination and willingness. The only player that that really defines on the Leafs is Nylander, and the only stretch of games where they've actually looked like utter horses**t was this stretch before the CGY games last week.

What ever helps you sleep at night guys lol.

In my mind, Leafs need to come out of the North or they need to make some major moves this offseason (Nylander trade)

03 Apr 2021 15:28:44
There is no doubt in my mind the leafs would be a better team without Nylander. I also agree with some of what JAnderson said and topshelfs response. The playoffs are a different game and yes you need to have heart and the willingness to run through a brick wall for your teammates. Topshelf is right that scoring chances and most offensive play is usually controlled by the leafs. My worry with the leafs is that when the whistles are put away, they will get pushed around. I’d like to see one more guy willing to fight and throw the big hit. The top 4 in the North are fairly equal imo.
