Flames are obviously done this year....how about this trade is it enough?

Flames trade:

Sam Bennett
1st round pick

Buffalo trades:
Taylor Hall (retain 50% this year)
sign and trade deal 5 yr 37.5 million.

This gives them home town boy, and gives them time to deal Johnny at the draft.

You can't retain just one year of a contract anymore and without retention Calgary would be way over the cap.

@Nylander Hall wants a chip, why not get traded to a contender and sign with Calgary in offseason. It just doesn’t make sense to do it now.

Hall signed with Buffalo because:

a) They offered him the most money
b) He thought he'd score a ton playing with Eichel and increase his value for next year. Boy was he wrong about that!
c) As a pending UFA with a NMC he has total control over where he goes next.

@Nylander I think he thinks about both like any player. You could say the same thing about Marner and Matthew- imagine how insane the Leafs would be if they signed at 7.5 instead of 15.
