Probably going to cost upwards of 10 million to get Hamilton outside of the powerhouse hurricanes to come to Edmonton. Probably the grossest city in the NHL ( currently living there ) . The Oilers just flat out suck outside of McDavid and Drais.

@nylander I’m a flames fan and it pains me to say this but give edmonton atleast 2 years and they’ll be a powerhouse. Holloway, Bouchard, Broberg, Benson, Lavoie. going to be an awesome team.

Holloway looks like a Hyman, Broberg looks like Esa Lindell, Bouchard looks to me like he won’t be great maybe a Number 4 which isn’t bad. . I see absolutely zero reason to believe benson will break out as a 25 year old. Lavoie could break out but he hasn’t been outstanding.

I’d bet 10 grand McDavid walks as a UFA at the end of his contract. Why would he stay with the oilers when he could go to a team surrounded by talent. I won’t even say Toronto but let’s use Ottawa for an example, close to his hometown, Will probably get atleast one of Bernard, Lambert and Writght. Assuming they get a new owner their team will be in a great position with tons of cap space and a emerging team with tons of talent. McDavid could put them over the top.

I mean he still has like 6 years left right? Those prospects should develop by then.
In terms of this proposal, I feel like Edmontons return is a bit rich for both trades as those players don’t fetch any picks in the first three rounds in my opinion.
In terms of the signings, if you can get Hamilton go all in, but if you can’t keeping Barrie isn’t the worst idea. Danault at 5M seems a bit steep for my liking, but the rest seem believable.
