Seeing the frustration on McDavid face after game 3 got me thinking. What would it take to get him in a trade if he wants out and would Ottawa have the pieces to make that happen? Here's an idea here...

Edmonton: McDavid

Ott : 2022 1st, 2023 1st (top 5 protected), 2024 1st, L.Brown, Branstrom, White, Teirney, a 2021 2nd

Would that do the trick?

That question goes to sensible people here as I know no matter what Ottawa offers, guys like Topshelf and Nylander among one or 2 others will say no way anyway as they seem to think Ottawa has nothing of value for some stupid reason.

Agree1 Disagree13

Everyone will say no way lmao why would Edmonton trade the best player in the league for a bunch of scrapes and question marks. Every team will beat that offer teams will offer blue chip peices like Lafranier, Byfield, Jack Hughes, etc you didn’t even offer Sturtzel. That’s what any offer starts with. If anything McDavid pulls a Tavares and heads home.

Edmonton won't trade McDavid unless they know he won't resign as a UFA in 4 years time. Every team in the league would be interested, an offer from Ottawa would probably have to start with Brady and Stuetzle.

24 May 2021 18:00:28
How does any of that get McDavid lmao

A trade involving McDavid has to include Stutzle, Sanderson, Batherson.
White is a 2ND/ 3RD Liner, Tierney is a 3RD Liner, Brown is a 3RD/ 4TH Liner.

As a Sens fan, here’s my more realistic offer (at least I think so)

Edmonton: McDavid

Ottawa: Chabot, Batherson (2 very strong proven pieces), Formenton, Thomson (2 NHL ready prospects), Zaitsev, Tierney, White (3 solid bottom NHL players), 2021 1st (projected 10th overall) and 2022 1st.

Nylander...

That's my point exactly, your oppinion don't matter as don't understand value

Ottawa is currently a lottery team in the bottom 10. That makes all of those 1sts golden, obviously the 2023 one has to be protected just incase but an unprotected 2022 pick is unreal value and 2024 also unprotected gives them lots

Brown may be a project but he is still high risk high reward and can be a stud

Branstrom is a blue chip prospect on anyone's radar.

And they also get 2 middle 6 centers 1 great for PK and one versatile enough to play anywhere in the lineup and a 2nd rounder this year.

That's a great package and should absolutely be a major consideration at the very least. Most that would maybe need to change is maybe swap out Brown and replace him with Batherson to sweeten the pot to a yes for sure.

That's 3 possibly high picks, 2 blue chip kids, 2 quality roster pieces and a 2nd if brown was replaced by Batherson or 1 blue chip kid and 1 project blue chip kid. Either way that's a massive package.

You just need to worry about how your Leafs can't beat my sens lol leave trade value talk to those of us who understand the concept lol

And Toronto will never get McDavid even if Edmonton was forced to move him lmfao get real. For 1 Edmonton would want young pieces NOT an over the hill old guy like Tavares, like Nylander himself, you're stuck with him. And that marner contract is atrocious so count him out too. And the money they have spent in Toronto already there's no way you could ever fit McDavid in and remain competitive lmfao. The guy makes 14 million annually, something the sens are actually equipped to take on. So keep dreamin pal

24 May 2021 22:57:33
To get McDavid if that was even on the table Ottawa would have to start with probably Brady Tkachuk, Stutzle and Norris to start plus high draft picks and a Contract like Daydonov imo.

24 May 2021 23:55:51
Out of curiosity, who says no to this

Toronto: Marner, Sandin, Nylander, 2022 1st

Edmonton: McDavid, Nurse.

25 May 2021 02:26:36
@Websjac Both teams likely say no to that.

25 May 2021 13:08:19
Yeah I’d also say both teams decline there is absolutely no point of acquiring McDavid because he’s just going to destroy your roster to get him.

25 May 2021 17:34:39
@Nylander I think Toronto gets better from that tbh. Nurse is a physical defensemen that can also put up points, which Toronto doesn’t have and McDavid is a more skilled and polished version of Marner.

Matthews is a more skilled Drai, McDavid a much more skilled Marner.

Losing Nylander wouldn’t hurt too much, imo it would actually help them due to the cap relief.

Trading McDavid is a mistake, but oilers have to, then the package returning has to be worth it.

Oilers: McDavid + Bear
Panthers; Barlow + Huberdeau + Ekblad

I don’t think panthers do it.

25 May 2021 21:55:57
Sorry meant to say barkov + Huberdeau + Ekblad.

26 May 2021 14:16:32
lol just because the Sens have cap space doesn’t mean Uncle Eugene is going to open up his wallet and use it Rambo. Smalll market team not spending anywhere near the cap ceiling pre-c.v. and Melnyk just had to eat two seasons with no gate revenue so unless he sells the team I think you’re dreaming.

Leafs don’t need to trade for McDavid; if he wants to come home he can do so as a free agent. and with Tavares’ current contract up the year before, don’t worry about the Leafs not having enough cap space. Dubas and Pridham will work their magic. again.
