Let's talk Edmonton. Kinda wondering where they go and how they improve.

Some of my own ideas:
1. Offer 6.5M AAV to RNH. If he takes it great if not let him test free agency.
2. Offer a 3rd to Seattle to take Kass. They're reportedly interested in him and a decent draft pick may sway them.
3. Trade with CLB
CLB: Elvis
EDM: Neal, 2021 1st, 2021 3rd, rights to Khaira
4. Buy out Koskinen
5. Resign Yamamoto to a 2 year bridge deal (maybe around 3M AAV)? Resign Chiasson to a bridge deal as well.
6. Resign Smith on a one year deal of 2.5M + incentives
7. Offer Barrie and Larsson new deals. I'd guess at around 4M AAV and 5M AAV respectively.
8. Offer Hyman 4.5-5M AAV. He could play a top 6 winger role and offers heart. Toronto is cap strangled and Edmonton could offer more money.
9. Offer Danault 4M AAV. He's a two way 3C that they have been desperately looking for.
10. Trade with OTT
OTT: Watson, 2021 7th
EDM: 2021 4th, 2022 6th
This would be their top 3 lines to start next year:
RNH-McDavid-Pulijarvi
Yamamoto-Drai-Hyman
Watson-Danault-Chiasson

Nurse-Barrie
Russell-Larsson
Bear-Bouchard

Smith
Elvis

Can't see Danault taking that deal, he turned down a bigger deal apparently. He also thinks of himself as more than just a 3rd line center.

I like the post but Hyman won’t leave Toronto they will have about 10 million in cap space this off-season to sign a starter and Hyman most of the other depth can be filled internally. Hymans dad has close to a billion dollar net worth so he isn’t in it for the money. He refused to sign in Florida and demanded a trade to the leafs. He will stay in his home town that I will guarantee. I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed a league minimum deal as he is the richest player in the leafs organization ( his dad ) . He’s getting paid 2 million a year and drives a Bugatti ( 3 million dollar car ) obviously he has more money then he makes.

Also Danault will take more then that.

@sosahabs on Edm he could be a 2C/ 3C as Drai frequently moves up to LW1. I could see him wanting more for sure tho.
@Nylander very true. I’d be surprised if he left Toronto. The problem for the Leafs is that 10M has to go towards a lot of players - Rielly, Hyman, Foligno, Rittich?, Andersen? . If he signs for the minimum it would obviously work, but I’d expect he’d want a bit of a raise. Just because they have a lot of money doesn’t mean they wouldn’t want more.

Not bad at all honestly, I think they could resign Smith for less though. Chiasson wouldn’t really need a bridge deal I say around 1-2.5mil should get a deal done.

Not bad.

I wonder if a guy like Tatar would be a good fit in Edmonton? If the price is reasonable . I can't see him being resigned by Montreal this off-season. He's a good player, that with Drais or McDavid could score 30+ goals and 65 points or so.

As far as forwards Oil only need to add one IMO.

RNH - McDavid - Puljujarvi
? - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Kahun - McLeod - Kassian
Shore - Khaira - Archibald

Disappointing to see the lack of production from the lineup and I’m curious to know the underlying numbers. I think that group is fairly deep, just need to produce. Also have a couple guys in the AHL that are on the brink of being too good to be down there.

I think the leafs resign him to somewheres north of 3 mil but under 4. The leafs will probably sign Rielly close to 7 mil ( 1.2 mil will be freed from Kessels retention ) and the rest of the players mentioned walk and are replaced internally.

Ebs. the? mark position could be the guy I mentioned. Tatar?

Yeah Sosa he could be a good cheaper/ less term option. Couple guys in free agency like Schwartz, Tatar, Hall but not sure how much money they can allocate there. They’ll also have Holloway pushing for a spot too. Lots of directions they could go on D and goal too so I’m excited to see what Holland does.
