I obviously wouldn’t do this as a flames fan. I seen this on Instagram and thought hell no. What do you think Toronto adds to get this deal done cause it’s obvious that it would be a huge no from CGY. Take into consideration how good Mang is defensively. I’d honestly do a Backlund + for Nylander.

Both teams probably say no to Mangiapane for Nylander.

Backlund for Nylander maybe. Toronto might ask for Monahan instead due to age and Calgary might go for it due to salary.

Toronto need to move a big contract they can’t piece together their bottom six plus Willy although his style of play drives people nuts he was the only one from the core that came you play it won’t waive and you shouldn’t trade Matthews that leave marner.

Trading Nylander of all people this offseason will send even more of a bad message to this group, that you can do f*** all and disappear off the face of fhe earth and have job security, while the one guy who came to play every game and every shift is getting the boot. If we trade Nylander, it shouldn't be this summer, unless we want to create more chaos and mess in an already tense locker room.

The leafs easily decline. Nylander won’t be moved and value wise he’s worth much more then Mangiapane Calgary adds their 1st atleast.

Give your head a shake.

It's not all about who gets the most points. Mangiapane is a spark plug, a great forechecker and good defensively. The Flames wouldn't trade Mangiapane for Nylander for those reasons alone.

On top of that you have to take salaries into consideration too. Nylander's cap hit is $4,537,366 higher than Mangiapane's. That means someone else they don't want to lose would have to goo too.

I’d rather Nylander over Mangiapane personally. Leafs get worse or at best it’s a lateral move that reduces their cap briefly until he wants a big raise next year.
Imo Nylander played up to his contract and is worth keeping around for the Leafs.

No one on the face of the planet would take Mangiapane over Nylander literally no one who knows anything about hockey Mangiapane is a overrated 3rd liner.

I can’t believe I’m saying this as a Habs fan but the flames fan on here who think Mangiapane is worth even 3/ 4 of Nylander value are absolutely wrong. Nylander is far from perfect but he has elite potential. He played elite in the Canadiens series and honestly was the best player on the team for at least 2 games and one of the best in 6 out of 7 games. While the rest of the core was afraid of going in front of the net and paying the price, Nylander was doing just that. You don’t trade a Johnny Gaudreau for a Arturi Lehkonen.

@Nylander Everyone who knows anything about hockey realizes there is a salary cap.

Nylander makes $4.5 million more than Mangiapane. Now if Toronto was willing to retain half his salary making up most of the difference then sure Calgary makes that trade.

As it stands now, Calgary wouldn't do it unless Toronto took Lucic who'd have to waive first too. Toronto isn't going to do that.

Besides as several Toronto fans have pointed out it wouldn't be very smart for the Leafs to trade away the one member of their 40 million club who actually produced in the playoffs this year.

No Flames fan said Mangiapane is worth 3/ 4 of Nylander or anything like that. However even if all you care about is point production he's still worth more than 1/ 3 of what Nylander is worth.

Yet Nylander gets paid nearly 3 times as much.

We'll keep Mangy and Toronto can keep Nylander. We don't really want Nylander anyhow even though he is a large right shot RW and that's Calgary's biggest need.
