No from Buffalo. This trade makes absolutely no sense for Buffalo. The 2ND is good, but they also receive a older and weaker defensemen while only saving 2.4mil in cap.

As a rental and being a bad defenseman, Buffalo would need a decent add to Ristolainen, the Jets wouldn't need to add. Although it would still be very unlikely Winnipeg considers downgrading from Demelo to Ristolainen.

DeMelo is a plug, poor acquisition and an even poorer signing. Of course on the Jets he's a top pairing dman but on most other teams he's a 6th dman.

If DeMelo gets picked by Seattle hopefully it opens the door for Samberg to actually get a chance to play on the Jets.
