I don’t think too much about the Tkachuk situation in Ottawa but if there was a chance that they were willing to trade him, would this offer be enough?


To Calgary : Brady Tkachuk

To Ottawa : (2022) First-Round Selection, Connor Zary, Juuso Valimaki, Ryan Francis and Milan Lucic


This is how I value Brady. He throws hits, gets under people’s skin, can score points but is horrible defensively and racks up way too many penalty minutes.

I can't see Brady getting traded at least not now while the team still has control. But Melnyk is so cheap there's a good chance they might trade him when he's getting close to UFA.

If he was being traded, that offer is pretty good but another team might pay even more. St Louis in particular.

On second thought with Lucic in there it's not as good an offer as I initially thought. It'd take something more like:

Gaudreau + Zary + Valimaki

or

Monahan + Pelletier + Valimaki

Adding Lucic would likely cost a 1st round pick or around $2 mil retention and a 2nd.

Brady isn’t getting traded and certainly not for two busts and a 1st.
