With Winnipeg Jets doing pretty well with Copp & Dubois playing top centre minutes.
And Scheifele & Wheeler on the injured/C.V. list til now.
I'm not a huge fan of Wheeler. Good player but wrong attitude. Especially for being a captain.

A line like
Connor Copp Batherson would be pretty impressive.
This trade would only workout if Copp can legitimately be a consistent offensive centre. Trading Scheifele would not be easy. Nor would it be wise. But sometimes change is good for everyone.
Jets proved they can win and play without Wheeler and Scheifele.
Copp proving he is too good to be 3rd line and maybe even 2nd liner.

Dang I’m torn on that last one…
Schiefele is a great player on a great contract, I just don’t think Ottawa is in a position to make that trade. They don’t have enough good players to trade 3 good players for 1 great player.

Minnesota won't have the cap space for Wheeler next year and the Jets aren't going to trade their captain for a couple depth guys as it doesn't make the Jets better now or in the future.
Same with the Scheifele trade, while the Ottawa players are okay, no one is giving up a bonafide 1C for a few decent maybes and Ottawa won't be contending for much in the next few years, so it doesn't make sense for them.

The Minnesota one is brutal for Winnipeg, the Ottawa one seems a lot more fair.

Great deal for the Jets. That's if Minny wants an overpaid, over the hill defensive liability.
The Jets actually need the size an toughness up front in Foligno and Greenway.

I kind of thought the same as you Bossman. Jets need more toughness. With Wheeler’s age and contract. I can’t see a huge return for him.

Ottawa politely refuses. Those guys aren't going anywhere anytime soon. At least not for just Scheifele. Although he might be a good base for a trade. Peg would want to add.
