Jussi Valimaki @1.55mil
TOTAL @ $12.05mil

To Calgary:
Ivan Provorov @6.75mil
Travis Konecny @5.50mil
TOTAL @ $12.25mil

CALGARY LINES:
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Konecny
Coleman-Monahan-Mangiapane
or
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Coleman-Monahan-Konecny
Lucic-Backlund-Dube
Richardson-Lewis-Pitlik/Ritchie

Hanifin-Anderson
Provorov-Tanev
Kylington-Gudbranson

PHILADELPHIA LINES:
Gaudreau-Couturier-Giroux
Farabee-Hayes-Atkinson
Brassard-Laughton-Van Riemsdyk
Lindblom-Thompson-MacEwan/Brown

Sanheim-Braun
Zadorov/Yandle-Ellis
Valimaki-Ristolainen

Reasoning: Flames are stacked at LW and Flames have been wanting a right show RW for awhile now (should have went hard after Sam Reinhart, but oh well, Konecny's cheaper). Again, I love how Johnny Gaudreau is currently playing, but I'm leery about whether he will sign a contract and stay in Calgary for $7-7.5mil. Rumors are he wants to go to Philly or NJD. I assume this might be a sign and trade of Gaudreau, so Philly has him secured. Calgary gets a young right shot RW who is a proven goal scorer who likely gets a top 6 role. Valimaki gets to "play" with Ristolainen (another Finn with more experience) and they both benefit from the comfort of speaking the same language/being from the same home land. Flames get younger and strengthen their defense with another young LD stud and Tkachuk and/or Mangiapane take over where Gaudreau was. Mangiapane and Coleman can play/swap to either side any time, as could Tkachuk and Dube if need be too, so tons of flexibility on the wing. If Ryan Ellis continues to get injured, Zadorov can play RD. Calgary brings up Connor Mackey full-time and Walker Duehr, Adam Rucizka and Jacob Pelletier can be brought up & down any time as need be in case of injury or just to rest some of the older players and continue to develop the young ones with NHL minutes.

That is a pretty hefty overvaluing of two Calgary rentals there. There is no incentive at all for Philly to even take a look at it.

Gaudreau would need to agree to an extension with Phildelphia, so wouldn’t be a rental, but I agree that if Zadorov (1yr) or Valimaki (2yr) don’t re-sign after their contracts end, there might be a conditional draft pick or prospect needing to be added to make it work. Philadelphia is getting older on the LW, so Gaudreau may appeal to them and that’s where he wants to play and would be happiest from what I’ve read.

If Gaudreau wants to sign in Philly, then why should they give up anything? Just sign him in the off season.

There's no reason for Philly to give up that much just to have Calgary extend Gaudreau for them. So, basically they are trading for one year of Gaudreau which won't cost anywhere close to your ask.

Point made, but there is the issue of Cap Space. Giroux and Ristolainen are both free agents this year as well, so Philly would likely have to let one of them walk away to have the room to sign Gaudreau.

What could be added to entice Philly? Maybe they want Gaudreau now instead of waiting and either way, Gaudreau has to commit and sign before the trade line or he needs to be traded for something in return. What do you forecast that might be? Just a draft pick? If so, what round(a)?

Philly declines pretty hard honestly.

Trevor, I think Gaudreau would go for the standard rental price. A first and a prospect. However, Calgary is doing pretty well right now and will likely be in the playoff hunt, so I doubt he's moved at the deadline.

I will be choked if Gaudreau doesn't re-sign and we lose him to Free Agency for nothing. I can't see how the Flames can afford to keep all of Gaudreau, Mangiapane and Tkachuk, without shipping someone else out and weakening other areas.

I can't see Philly making this trade.

Philly probably would trade Konecney for Gaudreau. In fact if Gaudreau comes with an extension or agrees ahead of time to sign one right after the trade is done they'd probably add something decent.

They probably balk at trading Provorov for Gaudreau. Top pairing offensive defensemen are difficult to acquire and they really like Provorov.

But there's no way Philly gives up both those players for Gaudreau and Valimaki, far less gives up both and takes Zadorov too.
