Matthew Tkachuk

To Calgary:
Vladimir Tarasenko
Jake Neighbors

Reasoning: Tkachuk is definitely a guy you want on your hockey team and I'd love Calgary to keep him, but he's going to be expensive @ $9-10mil+/yr to keep and I think he would prefer to be in St. Louis closer to his family. Tarasenko still has it as far as I'm concerned and is proving it so far this year. He may not replace Tkachuk's tenacity, but he'll replace Tkachuk's scoring and he's a RW Sniper, which Calgary needs (sure he's left handed, but so what, Ovechkin is a right show LW and does amazing, especially on the power play with much more accurate one-timers), he's also going to be at least $2+mil/yr cheaper than Tkachuk... But as insurance, I want St. Louis to throw in our Calgary boy = Jake Neighbors who has already played and succeeded in Alberta and could be a future LW Home Town stud for the Flames. Neighbors-Pelletier-Rucizka-Zary could all be Future Stars for the Flames one day. I think both sides win as Tarasenko wants out and will be a true #1 RW for the Flames and I'm confident Tkachuk wants to play in St. Louis or be paid a whole lot of money to stay in Calgary, which takes away from building a well-balanced team.

Maybe Tkachuk is worth more, so maybe St. Louis adds another draft pick or prospect!? Is it a 1st Round Pick or Zachary Bolduc? So Tkachuk for Tarasenko + Two 1st Round Picks/Prospects!? I don't want Tkachuk to go, but he's going to be expensive and I worry we'll end up like the Oilers and have a star or two, but can't afford supporting depth to contribute as well = a well-balanced team.

I definitely under valued Tkachuk on this one, but players I think might be good for Calgary out of St. Louis are: Jordan Kyrou (probably not available), Davis Perron (rental UFA2022), Brandon Saad (3rd Line) and Vladimir Tarasenko (RW Sniper) and Jake Neighbors (Home Town Prospect) .
