Once a Top NHL Prospect with High Expectations, Valimaki just isn't happy in Calgary and may be an improvement over Stillman for Chicago, so would get the playing time he desires. Calgary takes Stillman (who's father Cory was drafted and played for the Flames = Alumni) back who is an RFA, but also takes Calgary born Nylander, a Right Shot RW who just might click and take after his brother... It's a gamble, but Valimaki is disgruntled and likely close to asking for a trade and would be a distraction, so he's expendable and Calgary should move him.

Honestly, the Biggest Thing in all these trade proposals from me is that I want players who want to be and play in Calgary.

Zadorov beat out Valimaki for the starting job... Chicago is where Zadorov came from, would they want him back!? Valimaki is upset with Calgary, so should be moved for something in return as opposed to becoming a distraction. If Zadorov can be traded for a decent return, fine, but I am of the opinion it's time for Valimaki to go.

Yeah it would preferable to move Zadorov before Valimaki because:

1. Z makes nearly 2.5 times as much money.
2. Z isn't worth that much.
3. Valimaki is still young with lots of talent. There's plenty of time for him to develop. He'll almost certainly be much better than Z in the long run.
4. Connor Mackey is NHL ready now.

Still, the defense is good enough and deep enough now they could afford to let Valimaki go for the right return.

Maybe Valimaki + Pelletier + Lucic or something like that might be enough to pry Filip Forsberg out of Nashville.

Too much for Forsberg in my opinion (UFA 2022) unless it's a sign and trade, but he's a LW and hasn't played a full season in like 5-6 years (soft/ injury prone), so I think there's other RW's Calgary should target first such as: Vladimir Tarasenko, Travis Konecny, William Nylander, Brock Boeser, Rickard Rakell, Sam Reinhart (too late), Tyler Tafolli or Brendan Gallagher, Nikolaj Ehlers, Jonathan Marchessault (? ) for example. Maybe Detroit sells high on Lucas Raymond and that's something Calgary might want to consider too.
