Klingberg has apparently demanded a trade, Calgary need a 2C Badly and to improve their 3rd D Pairing. Dallas retains $3mil on Pavelski and Calgary Retains $2mil on Monahan & Zadorov this year and then another $1.5mil on Monahan next year. Calgary loses some size in the back end, but get better, more responsible D-Men and still have Lucic & Ritchie for Muscle.

Does Calgary need to add more than a 1st + 2nd + 2nd RD Prospect OR WHO would you Trade for from Dallas and FOR WHAT?

Dallas would likely be interested in Jusso Valimaki as well, so if he were inserted, maybe take out Gudbranson + the 2nd Round Florida Pick OR have Dallas send a Prospect back instead of the 2nd. Gudbranson would be an expensive scratch player, but could still be used in certain situations or for injury/ rest coverage OR could be shipped out separately.

@MoxNix, might CGY be interested in RW Denis Gurianov at all (if he's available) for say Dillon Dube + a Sweetener? He's got the size and offensive skill to be the line 2 RW. He's scoring more goals than Connor Brown this year with 2/ 3 the playing time, so is >/ = to Brown.

Keep Gudbranson, he hasn't been bad and his toughness is needed, especially in the playoffs.

08 Jan 2022 23:32:12
Or better yet, get a Big Tough LD in Ryan Graves, Carson Soucy or Ben Chiarot instead and tell Rasmus Andersson and Chris Tanev to play Meaner and Tougher out there.

I'm not opposed to keeping Gudbranson as the 7th D-Man and even carrying an 8th D-Man on the Roster with 1 Forward Scratch, but he'd be an expensive Scratch Player.

Yeah Chiarot and Gudbranson together on the 3rd pairing would be great plus Chiarot should be able to step up to the 2nd pairing and do ok there if/ when necessary.

Gurianov I don't know enough about to say much. Just looking at stats online I'd say he's very comparable to Dube. A year older, a little bigger and making a little more money. If he was a right shot I'd say sure do it but as a left shot I dunno. It wouldn't bother me if they did it either though. Not sure if Calgary needs to a sweetener either, if so it better not be more than a 5th/ 6th.

Gurianov would definitely be an upgrade over Dube. He’s Bigger, Faster, Can Drive the Puck to the Net and has a much Better Shot.

Similar to Snipers like Ovechkin, Forsberg, Toffoli and Kubalik, he likes to play the off wing, so he can hit those one-timers, but he can play either wing no problem and is best on the RW for Power Plays obviously.

Not sure if Dallas would trade him, but if we can’t get Bryan Rust, Tyler Toffoli, Josh Anderson, Connor Brown, he’d be an excellent option and pick up.

If Pavelski won’t come to Calgary, they should try to Trade for Claude Giroux then Tomas Hertl. 2C/ 2RW/ 3LD are where the Flames need the biggest upgrades, then they can try to improve the rest by obtaining guys like Lawson Crouse, Luke Glendening or another RD. Gudbranson has fallen off a bit, but it may be because he’s over compensating for Zadorov, not sure but there’s a reason why he doesn’t typically stick with a team for long.

A little bigger sure, I dunno about the rest though. Dube is fast probably faster than Gurianov and he can drive the net too. He isn't exactly a big guy but at 5'11" 187 lbs he isn't a little guy either and he has a competitive snarly side to his game.

If Dube put the puck in the net a bit more he'd be on the second line. I'm skeptical if the same can be said for Gurianov but as I said I wouldn't be against a straight up trade to find out.

Dube just can't seem to enter the zone like Gaudreau, Lindholm, Mangiapane and even Backlund can. He usually gets stopped or the puck knocked off his stick, losing possession. He seemingly needs a good setup man or fantastic shot opportunity to score or enter the zone.

Still targeting Connor Brown, Tyler Toffoli, Bryan Rust, Josh Anderson as the most desired options, then Tarasenko, Rackell, Cam Atkinson or Travis Konecny. Only other new names I would add other than Gurianov is Vladislav Namestnikov out of Detroit, Reilly Smith out of Las Vegas if we can afford him and they move him for the cap space they need or Kaapo Kakko, but I doubt the Rangers would part with him. I doubt WPG would part with Nikolaj Ehlers either.

10 Jan 2022 01:58:41
No way the Jets would part with Ehlers now though two or three years ago Jets fans here kept proposing trading him for Monahan. I was saying no but we'll do Gaudreau for Ehlers plus. :)

With hindsight that sure sounds good now! Monahan was still a decent first line center and Ehlers hadn't had his breakout year yet.

Yeah Dube isn't very good at entering the zone with the puck. He looked really good in his hattrick game last year. Driving the net hard, making moves to beat defenders and scoring goals. I thought he was going to have a breakout year after that but he hasn't had another game like that (or even close) again.

10 Jan 2022 02:09:26
Vegas I have a feeling they'll try to keep Reilly and trade Pacioretty instead. Dadonov is likely on the way out though.

None of them would be options for Calgary though. Whoever Vegas trades is going to be to dump cap and Calgary can't afford to take on any of those cap hits. Not to mention Vegas wouldn't want to make a good conference opponent like Calgary better.

10 Jan 2022 04:42:57
Good Point. I'd Trade Gaudreau to get somebody like Pacioretty (if/ once he's healthy, but wrist injuries can be dicey), Giroux or Tarasenko if he won't extend by the TDL. Doubt Winnipeg would be interest in Gaudreau since he's like bound for the Eastern USA next year.

12 Jan 2022 16:33:10
Pavelski loves Dallas and the feeling is mutual. I think he's one of those guys who would retire before moving anywhere, in my humble opinion.

12 Jan 2022 22:16:00
Yes, that absolutely could be the case. I'm just used to Veterans wanting to try and win a cup in their careers. He could always go back to Dallas for next season. It would be a short stint in Calgary, but you're right, the decision is almost completely up to him since he only has a 3 Team Trade list I believe.

14 Jan 2022 15:31:05
Calgary has a good thing going, but Dallas is in the mix too. He is still a great player and he is dynamite in the post-season.
