Trevor you asked for my Barrie trade:

Ideally it's something like
Edm : Chychrun
Ari: Barrie + Broberg + 2022 1st

Definitely an upgrade for Edmonton with same price point.
I actually think Arizona could then retain and move Barrie for value (he's a great offensive Dman), as well as getting a top tier D prospect and 1st.

If that couldn't happen then I could see a Barrie for Gio or Barrie for Hampus Lindholm trade. + or - a mid round pick

I know I’m a homer for saying this but I wouldn’t want to trade Broberg+ for Chychrun. I think Broberg is going to be a big player by next years playoffs or sooner.

So who replaces Barrie at RD? Koekkoek and Russell? I agree Chychrun would be a nice acquisition, but @ $4.6mil + Keith's $5.5mil + Nurse's $5.6mil this year and $9.25mil next year, that's $15.7-$19.3mil tied up in LD's and both Keith and Nurse have NMC's.

This would leave a big hole on the RD and continues the Oilers problem of giving 75% or 3/ 4 of the Cap to 35% or 1/ 3 of the Players ($61.5mil to 4 forwards + 4 D-Men) leaving just $20mil for 2 Goalies + 13 support players. It means the majority of the team is basically league minimum players and rookies. I just don't see how they expect to win this way, especially when Teams shut down those 8 players. They need to spread the money and talent around, to role their lines and generate contribution throughout their line-up.

My proposal obtained 2 needs in a 2RW in Kessel + a 3rd Pairing RD in Lyubushkin for Barrie and a Prospect (maybe too much, but I also had ARI retaining $3.4mil on Kessel)

Oilers should use players with Trade Value = Barrie, Kassian and Yamamoto = $9mil + Package Koskinen, Turris, Ryan, Koekkoek and Lagesson with Picks/ Prospects = $9mil to bring in needed pieces = 2RW/ 3.4m + 2LW/ 1.5-4.25m + 3LW/ 1.55m + 3RW/ 1mil + 4C/ 750k + 4RW/ 1mil + 3LD/ 1mil + 3RD/ 1.35m + G/ 3.4m = $15-$17.7mil/ 9 Players

E. Kane/ Toffoli-Draisaitl-Kessel

This is a far better Balanced and Talented team with vastly improved Defense and Secondary Forward Scoring Ability. It will cost them some Picks and Prospects to unravel their bad moves and mistakes, but they can afford it. Now is the time to go for it, while they still have McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins and Nurse in their Primes.

Ebs, i think Holland needs to show McDavid and Draisaitl that they want to win now, Maybe your right and he turns into a really good Dman, but the 2 Mega Stars are going to get impatient really soon if progress isn't made now.
And, Chychrun is a really good Dman, Possible Norris Contender in his future.

I agree that the team needs to start winning playoff rounds but that doesn’t necessarily mean Holland needs to make big trades. I said I think Broberg will be playing top 4 minutes next season not 2 or 3 years from now. He’s almost a point per game in the AHL and I think he looked good when he got called up. I don’t think they win any trades involving Broberg or Holloway. There both going to be two cheap impact players soon.
