How is it possible to make a trade with Arizona and end up with their 2 best players, the Canucks best player and 2 players from the Devils?

21 Jun 2022 14:34:31
@Renidrag It's magic!

21 Jun 2022 22:17:12
Yes, Magic! Follow my posts

Hani + Monny + Maki + 2nd + 4th/ Prospect to ARI for Chych&Crouse
Dube + Kylington to NJD for Zacha + Graves
Connor Zary + 2023-1st + 2022-2nd to VAN for JT Miller
Lucic to SEA for? or VAN using 3rd Team to retain 50%
Gaudreau to NJD/ BOS/ PHI for Mid-Round Pick for 8yr Sign and Trade

Was going to ship Toffoli and Ruzicka to VAN for Miller, but felt Toffoli would play well with JT Miller and Phillips would play well with Ruzicka. Kept Lindholm with Tkachuk and Backlund with Coleman, so familiarity/ history all around. This hinges on a few UFA Signings and Pelletier and Phillips being ready, but I think they will be, so see ya later Johnny!

Alternative to JT Miller is pursuing Forsberg or Fiala, but we'd still need a Centre (Statsny or Copp), unless Zacha or Ruzicka are ready to step up.

Phillips will never be ready.

Phillips is the exact same size as Johnny Gaudreau and could become a similar player. He’s earned the opportunity to be given a longer look as far as I’m concerned. In the 1 game and 10 minutes he played for the Flames he almost scored twice.

Ryan Francis is another example of a small player the Flames decided not to give a chance. If they don’t like small players, they should stop drafting them. Let the other teams get the Alex DeBrincat’s and so on.

22 Jun 2022 02:38:11
The same size with half the skill.

22 Jun 2022 02:39:38
Francis I can't believe they didn't keep though. He's more like Mangy (same size, similar motor and grit) than Phillips.

22 Jun 2022 03:01:08
Also Phillips is listed as an inch or two shorter than Gaudreau but he was probably wearing his skates when they measured his height.

22 Jun 2022 03:21:32
Phillips has grown since those measurements. Elite Prospects and the AHL have him at 5’8 - 165lbs and apparently he doesn’t ply like his size and is a pretty good two way player and a responsible back checker. Can pass and shoot, just couldn’t find anything on his FaceOff ability or stats.

22 Jun 2022 03:25:09
Elite has Francis at 5’9 170lbs and Mangiapane at 5’10 183lbs. So Francis is closer to Gaudreau 5’9 165lbs and Phillips 5’8 165lbs.

22 Jun 2022 05:15:14
Francis is 5'10 180.

Change of subject, but the Flames should consider bringing in Tyler Bozak on a PTO if he still wants to play and will take league minimum + little to no performance bonuses. Curtis Lazar might be of interest as well, he’s a decent 4th liner.

22 Jun 2022 14:48:56
We already had Lazar he was terrible here but Bozak might be worth taking a flyer on at league minimum.

22 Jun 2022 17:46:16
Lazar was like 22 back then and has improved substantially since, coming in to his role as a 4th Line Checker and Penalty Killer. He'd be a huge upgrade over Brad Richardson and Ryan Carpenter and is much Younger and Stronger than Trevor Lewis. He's starting to get more confidence, shooting and scoring more now as well. He's Super Smart and Hard Working = Team Player.

22 Jun 2022 17:47:43
Another Target I've heard the Flames might be interested in for the 4th line is Noel Acciari.

22 Jun 2022 17:49:06
Given how much we paid to get Calle Jarnkrok though, I'd try to re-sign him. He did okay, was just snake bitten and unlucky with his scoring. He usually take a bit but eventually gets more comfortable. I'd like him to give us a Team Friendly discount to stay though.

Ya this is why parents shouldn't let young kids on the internet.
