Sean Monahan + Jusso Valimaki + 2nd RD Pick FOR Adam Henrique + Max Comtois + 5th Round Pick; then CGY acquires Connor Brown:

Brown-Henrique-Mangiapane

Toffoli/ Pelletier-Lindholm-Tkachuk/ Toffoli
C. Brown-Henrique-Mangiapane
Jarnkrok/ Dube-Backlund-Coleman
Comtois-Dube/ Ruzicka-Ruzicka/ Phillips

Wouldn't be a bad low cost lineup actually, then go all out on Defence.

Solid

The only problem is Henrique is 32 years old, just one year older than Backlund with similar production throughout their careers. Similar size and playstyle too, good two way players, practically the same player except Backlund is better defensively and Henrique is faster.

make that just one year *younger than Backlund.

Sounds like a Sutter type player and you really like Backlund, so why not have a Faster version and try to reunite that Amazing Team Canada Line!?

ANA is looking to get Younger, whereas CGY is looking to get Better. If we could pry Howden or Roy (+ McNabb or Hague) from the Cash Strapped LVK, we'd have another Young Replacement Centre in addition to Ruzicka, Dube, Nikolayav & Kerins to compete for 2&3C duties.

This would definitely be an interesting & skilled Bottom-9:

C. Brown-A. Henrique-Mangiapane
Dube-Backlund-Coleman
M. Comtois-B. Howden-Jarnkrok/ Ruzicka/ Phillips

Nic Roy, Curtis Lazar, Mark Kastelic & Noel Acciari are 3 other Right Shot 4C options worth consideration. I was hating on Dube, but he turned things around and I think will continue to improve, but if they can upgrade to Pavel Zacha, that would be even better.

Nothing wrong with Henrique but having a pair of middle 6 centers 32 and 33 years old getting paid more than 5 million each and a little over 11 million combined would be a huge mistake.

Henrique is faster and has produced a little more offense over the years but Backlund is better defensively. It's pretty much a wash which player is better but Henrique makes nearly 500k more than Backlund.

On the other hand if the Ducks retained a significant chunk of Henrique's salary I'd be fine with acquiring him.

Will cost more for retention, but it's an option. My proposal in contingent on ANA taking Monahan back with no retention, so ANA can get out of Henrique's contract a year early, but the main thing that appeals to me is putting Henrique & Mang back together. He'd likely put up 0.80PPG with Mang and maybe even 1.00PPG with Brown there too. Henrique > Monahan at Faceoffs as well. It's only for 2 years

Backlund's minutes should be reduced and he should be taken off the PP anyways (maybe he gains more energy to help him finish/ score more this way)

I think that line was more about Mangy and Brown than Henrique. Wouldn't make any difference if they had Backlund or Henrique centering them. They might score a few more points with Henrique and they might have a few less scored on them with Backlund but it wouldn't be a big difference either way.

If that’s correct than yeah, let’s find a better 2C for sure, but who’s taking Monahan and for what in return and/ or what will it cost us!? Picks/ Retention!? Not sure where Monahan would be willing to go, but figured California might be an okay destination, otherwise somewhere close to his and his wife’s HomeTown’s in Ontario: OTT, BUF or DET?

Monahan is still worth something. If all else fails they can always keep him on LTIR until he's 100% for the first time in years or if he balks at that simply buy him out.

I hope so. Not seeing much interest or posts in regards to what Monahan is actually worth and/ or which teams would be interested in taking him on.
