CGY's Oliver Kylington + 2nd Round Pick FOR
CLB's Jakub Voracek + Jake Bean

CLB needs to open up Cap Space and Voracek might not be easy to move with his Age and Salary Cap, but could be the Playmaker CGY needs. CLB thinks they're getting an upgrade at LD, but Bean likely ends up being even better back in CGY

I’m not sure this makes Calgary much better and do you really wanna help Clb out after they took your best player?

14 Jul 2022 04:59:30
Pacioretty was almost a point per game making over 1M less for only a year and he was given away with a prospect. I hate when people propose trades under mine but here I go anyways lol
CGY - Lucic (50% retained), 2023 3rd
CBJ - Voracek, 2023 1st

Was just thinking it would save Columbus like 6M this year and over 8M next. Calgary wouldn’t just have to take on Voraceks salary without dumping any.

I was thinking about the Pacioretty deal, but LVK had their backs against the wall and Max is always hurt, whereas CLB isn’t really in the same boat.

I believe Bean > than Kylington and a 2nd for Voracek didn’t seem outrageous, but if CLB wants to dump him on us for less, all the better.

CGY has Snipers (Tkachuk, Lindholm, Mangiapane and Mangiapane) but they need more Playmakers. Voracek had 56 Assists this season. Phil Kessel would be a much cheaper option though and at no acquisition cost. He had 44 Assists on an even more terrible team and Pelletier (and Matthew Phillips) deserve a chance to show what they can do playing with real talent. Gaudreau was and look how he turned out.

Pelletier-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Toffoli-Backlund-Kessel/ Voracek
Mangiapane-Dube-Coleman
Rooney-Ruzicka-Lewis

Hanifin-Anderson
Bean-Tanev (inj) / Valimaki
Zadorov-Meloche

Could try to sign either Michael Del Zotto for 2LD, John Klingberg for 1RD, PK Subban or Michael Stone for 2/ 3RD and Jack Johnson, Ryan Murray or Robert Hagg for 3LD.

Dylan Strome or Paul Stastny at 2C would be more offensive options than Backlund as well, unless we can land Nazem Kadri of course.

Former Hitmen Victor Rask and Mark Kastelic would be interesting pickups, so would Calle Jarnkrok or Johan Larsson too if they were cheap to sign for 4th Line Duties with the chance to bounce around the lineup.

I definitely like the idea of having them take Lucic or even Monahan back in then exchange, but not sure they’d pay us to take Voracek on, like LVK had too with Pacioretti & MAF, TOR/ Mrazek, PHI/ Gostisbehere.

14 Jul 2022 06:31:58
Terrible ideas Vorcek is not what the Flames need.

14 Jul 2022 15:46:37
Trevor A actually Monahan makes way more sense.

Okay, where are you at @MoxNix? What are the current needs? For me they desperately need a Playmaker.

Voracek was tied for 20th in the League for Assists and should be cheapest Playmaker available to acquire; much cheaper than JT Miller or Patrick Kane.

As for Free Agents, Kadri would be better if he'll sign in CGY, otherwise we got to Trade for or Offer Sheet somebody like Jesper Bratt. Overpaid Mitch Marner is looking more and more like an Option as well

The absolutely cheapest option is Phil Kessel who had 44 Assists playing on the Worst Scoring Team in the NHL, but he won't be very good Defensively

It's one thing to have Guys who can put the Puck in the Net, but if they got nobody to move the Puck up the Ice and Set Them Up, they're not going to Score as much. Elias Lindholm has become more of a Sniper than a PlayMaker lately as well.

Patrick Kane

Voracek would only be an option with 50% retention or maybe in a trade involving Monahan and not much else. Even then I think I'd rather take my chances on Monahan rebounding (can always buy him out if he doesn't) than take on 2 years of Voracek's cap hit.

Johnny Hockey was the guy primarily bringing the puck up the ice in to the zone and who they'd pass back too on the PP, so who's the guy that's going to do that for the Flames now?

14 Jul 2022 20:06:38
Dylan Strome could be an option too if he doesn't cost too much to sign.

Maybe a 2 year show-me contract around $4 mil/ yr walking him to UFA would interest him more than a long term contract for a little more.

Really they relied too much on little johnny for way too long. The offense was so predictable until Sutter came along and changed that. Even then sometimes they'd fall back on old predictable bad habits and get into trouble.
