ARI : Chychrun

OTT : Zaitsev, Sokolov, Thompson, Jarventie, a 2024 unprotected 1st

Rumor has it Arizona wanted this deal with the only changes being Instead of Thompson and Jarventie they wanted Branstrom. And the 1st was a lottery protected 2023 1st.

I feel this particular change better suits both sides and Jarventie plus Thompson I feel gives more value than Branstrom alone.

And the 2023 draft is too deep to give out picks, so seeing other teams trade 1sts as far as 2025 like Florida did for Tkachuk, it's not unreasonable to change the 2023 lottery protected 1st to an unprotected 2024 1st.

Zaitsev is mainly just there to fill a top 4 role in Arizona while at the same time offset the salaries so it don't affect either team as they are near equal cap hits. Plus Arizona needs cap hit to at least reach cap floor.

Drop a prospect and add a 2nd.

Arizona would want Sanderson.

@moxnix definitely

There you go again Monix. The whole point of getting Chychrun in the first place is to play with Sanderson.

And Arizona already proposed a trade to Ottawa that didn't involve Sanderson at at all. This is actually more value than the trade they originally wanted from Ottawa. You really are getting to be an annoying little troll when it comes to Ottawa trade proposals.

Vbbvbb. I added the extra prospect as a sweetener to ensure they take the Zaitsev contract in this deal. He may be a top 4 dman on a lot of teams but that cap hit almost needs a sweetener to speed up a possible trade before being out bid. And only have 1 or 2 years till RFA anyway and Ottawa has plenty in the system to replace what they bring to the table anyway. For a guy like Chychrun I'd be totally fine with paying the extra prospect, as long as it's NOT a future top line stud like Sanderson or Stutzle caliber.

Those 3 guys are solid sure, but in Ottawa they are a dime a dozen. Docker and Thompson pretty much do the same thing and are roughly same value but Docker has the ties and chemistry with the North Dakota crew so I'd prefer to keep him. Grieg and Boucher are able to replace Sokolov and Jarventie and are closer to a sure thing to reach their potential while Sokolov and Jarventie are more of a project that have more chance if being busts, not that they will but I'd sooner keep the other 2 based on long term projection.

Plus good chance they won't have the cap to sign all the kids anyway so better to move a few to get an upgrade where needed and get rid of a bad contract without really affecting current cap situation. Allowing for an easy path to sign the guys the need to keep like Stutzle, Sanderson, DeBrincat, Grieg, Pinto, Formenton, Joseph, Docker, Boucher, Soogard, etc when the time comes. Plus the added bonus that Chychrun current contract is equal to Zaitsev dollar wise and equal to Giroux in term. Meaning when Giroux contract ends, good chance he's old enough to retire or accept a major hometown discount to stay another year or 2 leaving money on the table to give Chychrun his raise from that at the same time.

There you go again Baddie, the whole point of trading Chychrun is to get valuable assets for him. If Arizona wanted to give him away for a quantity over quality he'd be long gone already!

You really are becoming any annoying little homer when it comes to Ottawa trade proposals.

And there you go again undercutting Ottawa players trade values yet again this proposal has quality plus quantity, something you know nothing about.

Not every trade has to be a superstar for superstar plus fleecejob like the Tkachuk trade. A 2nd line dman, A future middle 6 big bodied bruiser, a future Top 4 dman, and a future 2nd line forward, plus a 1st is more than satisfactory in most cases. And assets like that are considered quality in hockey so get over yourself.

You want Sanderson added? Fine I'll add Sanderson, but to even the trade out again, Arizona 100% has to add Cooley as well. Don't like that? Too damn bad. This is a "trade proposal for 2 teams, NOT a "how bad can you fleece Ottawa" questionnaire.

The point is to either get better now with the trade like Ottawa is doing here, or set yourself up for a bright future by turning a big piece now into multiple pieces that help down the road like Arizona is doing here. NOT to give up the farm for 1 guy who's as good now as one of you biggest peices will be in 2 to 3 years tops like Sanderson, plus give more on top. That don't do Ottawa any favors and makes Arizona as good now and a whole lot better in the future. Go back to Basketball where dumb rubbish trades like that make sense. In hockey you would be crucified if you made a trade like that over the one I proposed.
