@MoxNix, Barrie isn't great in his own zone, I agree, but he played on a terrible defensive team in EDM and was still +4/ +3, so on a More Defensive Team with more Offensive Zone Time, he should be fine + would be a bargain, likely contributing 0.60-0.80PPG.

EDM has one more year of retaining 750K on Lucic. I’m not even sure it’s possible to bring him back, but regardless, they sent him elsewhere for a reason and are unlikely to ever trade for him.

Barrie >= Klingberg but Much Cheaper. If CGY can milk more out of EDM, Great!

I'm proposing More Speed & Point Creation from the Back End. My concern here would be insufficient Penalty Killers, so definitely need Holl, Stralman or Subban til Tanev is back or Sign Ryan Murray (since Hagg is gone) or Trade for Ryan Graves. Not sure if Mackey is much of a PK Guy.

Also the Oil would never make that trade. Lol if they do end up keeping Barrie it’s probably because he played really well paired with Kulak. His role diminished a little in Edmonton but a good fit with another team he’ll go back to a 50 point D. Not a camp dump.

Weegar and Zadorov will be just fine for the first PK unit. Hanifin and Andersson will be the defensemen on the second PK just like last year.

Yes it's possible for edmonton to bring Looch back but I thought it would be obvious to everyone I was joking about that.

I calculate Holland has about $5mil to add 4 more Forwards to complete their roster. Yamamoto @3mil, McLeod @1.25, Malone @$762.5k & McKegg $762.5k = $5.775mil

Gotta Trade/ Dump one of Yamamoto, Foegele or Barrie; that's the reality of the situation.

I read he only has 2.6M after a couple guys get put on LTIR. I don’t want to see him traded but Barrie makes the most for the players that are moveable. 7M would get you Yamo, McLeod, a D replacement and a depth forward.

Current Situation: 10FWDs/ $45.85mil + 7D/ $22.4mil + 2G/ $5.75mil + RS/ $750k (Lucic) + Buyouts/ $3.42 = $78.17mil Roster Size: 19/ 23

EDM actually only has $4.33mil available to be compliant. Could switch Koekkoek @$925k with Niemelainen @$762.5, but that only opens up another $162.5k = $4.5mil available to add 4 Forwards, making the Roster Size: 23/ 23.

Actually teams prefer not to have players on LTIR because they can't accrue cap space when they have players on LTIR.

Oil have no choice but to use LTIR. Your missing Bouchards bonus of 850K and Holloway’s 900K. There already almost 3M over the cap without Yamo or McLeod.

Teams are allowed to go over the Cap by up to 7.5% to cover Bonuses and Holloway would be one of the 4 Forwards if they bring him up to play and put him on the roster this season.
