CGY's Noah Hanifin @$4.95/UFA2024 + Tyler Toffoli @4.25/UFA2024 + 2nd RD Pick FOR

NJD's Jesper Bratt @5.5-6mil (est.) + Ryan Graves @3.17/UFA2023 + Fabian Zetterlund (or Alexander Holtz)

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Mang/J.Bratt
Dube-Zetterlund-J.Bratt/Mang
Rooney-Backlund-Coleman
Pelletier-Ruzicka-Phillips
Lewis-Lucic

Weegar-Andersson
Kylington-Tanev
Graves-Zadorov
Valimaki/Mackey

Would want Weegar extended prior to moving Hanifin though

No, Calgary needs more size and grit not less!

Graves definitely brings more Size & Grit than Hanifin and we need more Playmaking and Skill than Size & Grit in our Top-6 to compete with Colorado and Edmonton.

Hunerdeau brings Size & Grit to the Top Line. Maybe not as much as Tkachuk did, but Huberdeau is the Better Player and substantially Bigger & Grittier than the Guy he’s replacing = Gaudreau

So unless we can acquire UFA’s Tarasenko or JT Miller or Trade for Brayden Schenn, not sure who else would be available & worthwhile and again, I say No to Josh Anderson, Blake Wheeler or Mark Stone.

You got that backwards, the defense is pretty good now. It's the top 6 forwards that needs more size and grit.

Graves would be fine as a replacement for Kylington not Hanifin. Weegar played LD in Florida but he's a right shot so move him back to RD with Graves at LD and put Zadorov on Tanev's left.

That'd make 3 good defensive pairings. Wouldn't be much dropoff from one pairing to the next. The bottom pair would be as good as or better than a lot of team's 2nd pair.

Also Huberdeau brings good size not so much grit. Of course he's grittier than Gaudreau (is it even possible not to be? ) but he's no Tkachuk either.

Tkachuk's grit hasn't been replaced.

Weegar is going to cost around $6-6.5mil to re-sign and is Better Offensively at LD, so he should be 1LD and paired with Andersson

I’d prefer to lose Kylington over Hanifin but I felt we needed to add a Star 1LD to get Bratt & Hanifin might want to be back East. In any event, one of Hanifin or Kylington need to go as they’re not Physical enough

Graves is just as good, if not Better than Hanifin. He’s Bigger, Stronger and More Physical and a Better Shut Down D-Man, but more importantly would be cheaper to re-sign @4.5mil/ yr vs. Hanifin @$6-7mil/ yr. I’d prefer Weegar and to re-sign Andersson for that kind of money, so a Cheaper 2LD than Hanifin is ideal. Zadorov still makes me nervous unless he plays with a Good Defensive RD like Tanev or LD like Graves, Forbort or Muzzin

Toffoli’s Great, but I say let’s find a Younger, Faster, Better Passing C/ RW. Zetterlund & Bratt both fit the bill and would be Welcome additions to our Swedish contingency

There are no Top-6 Grit Players currently available other than JT Miller & Tarasenko who I’ve been pitching already. We need another Playmaking 1PPG+ Player more than Size & Grit for our Top-6. Besides, Sutter can move Coleman up the lineup any time he wants more Grit.

LMAO Bratt is not being moved.

02 Aug 2022 05:19:00
Why the heck not!? NJD & Bratt are far apart on Contract Negotiations and NJD has a ton of Upcoming RW Prospects!

Not everyday you get offered a Right Shot Sniper and a Star D-Man. NJD currently only has 1 Right Shot in their Top-6, so I would think Toffoli would be a Welcome Veteran addition to bridge the 2-3 years until their Young RW Prospects are ready to replace him.

New Jersey wouldn’t trade Holtz straight up for that package. Hanfin is no star dman. Hedman, Josi, Doughty, Makar, Hughes, Fox, etc are star dman. Hanfin is a 2nd pairing guy.

With the recent contract signings for players who produced more than Bratt he's going to lose his arbitration case most likely. Gives the Devils some time to get a deal done to deal him or it will be a prove it year and they pay him.

@vbbbvvbb you just named a bunch of $8-11mil/ yr Super Stars

There's 32 NHL Teams and Hanifin was 28th in PPG for D-Men who played at least 15 Games and only 8 of them had better +/ -, so I consider Hanifin a Star Defensemen

@MG69, you're on point, there's a decision to be made there and maybe they choose to sell high on him, especially if he'll be unhappy with the verdict & contract he's forced to take.
