heard a crazy idea that IF the murray samson oc experiment fails that scooby dubas would pivot to a trade for hellebuyck. i know this is a crazy crazy idea but just curious to know what the leafs would need to give up if it came down to this option? (btw i'm a jets fan)

The only way Chevy trades Helly is if Mikhail Berdin is NHL ready at a high #1 goalie level.
He would want a player that the Leafs wouldn't want to trade or retain $ on like Marner.
The Jets definitely wouldn't want or need soft, unmotivated Nylander or any combination of bottom level players or prospects.
The Leafs may not need a goalie if their 2 goalie signings pan out.

Yeah I guess Mathews wouldn’t be of interest to the jets. Marner probably wouldn’t crack the roster. That Nylander bum might crack the 4th line.

it isn't that those three couldn't crack the lineup. it is that any one of them would upset the salary structure of the team. .

Obviously the jets would taje Matthews and probably Marner but I'm pretty sure leaf fans are thinking Sandin, Muzzin, Robertson and a second.

If the leafs off Mathews for Helly the jets would buyout Connor and Ehlers to make the cap work.
