This is a type of Trade that helps both Teams for different reasons.
Muzzin might play this season, and because of that The Leafs can't go out and add to the cap until they know 100% he isn't playing this season.
Ellis isn't playing this season so he can be buried in LTIR for the rest of this season, if he plays again in the future that's a bonus for Toronto, if not they will keep him in LTIR.
Flyers get rid of Ellis's long term contract and can focus on rebuilding their team.

The ltir capspace will help the Leafs, so it has to be a good trade.
Why else would he post anything other than something that helps the Leafs.
Now if he added a pick going to the Flyers, that might be reasonable.

BOTH players are dealing with career-threatening injuries, and are on LTIR.

They're on Robidas Island and left no forwarding address.

This seems like a move for the sake of making a move. Why bother with a transaction of players who likely will never play? Sketchy PR move too.
