Ott : 2024 1st, Zaitsev, Boucher, Jarventie, Formenton, Joseph

Ana : Zegras, Klingberg

Anaheim gets 2 solid prospects, a solid Top 9 NHLer, a 1st next year, another Top 9 NHLer depending on how the Hockey Canada Scandal turns out, and eats the last year of Zaitsev contract.

Ottawa gets remainder of Klingberg contract, and a Top 6 Center to help make up for the Norris absence and in doing so gain a bit of insurance in their Top 6 if DeBrincat can't be signed and decides to leave Ottawa after this year.

Norris will be back soon. Klingberg would be an unnecessary rental so you are trading his contract off for Zaitsev's. So the trade then becomes Zegras for Boucher, Jarventie, Formenton and Joseph and a first in 2024. I understand the issue around Formenton, but still seems like a lot for Zegras at this stage of his career.

The big reason behind Klingberg and Zaitsev is the year left in Zaitsev contract. Essentially trading contracts gets rid of the extra year, so a bit extra was put in to help move another year of Zaitsev for a rental upgrade Klingberg in order to get Zegras added to the mix. Formenton and Joseph are likely to be upgraded via this trade and the 2023 draft, especially if Ottawa can win the lottery for once. Zegras and A Top 3 pick this year would go a long way. And if it does work out like that then Ottawa would have no need for the 2024 1st or Jarventie or Boucher anyway, as next year playoffs would easily be within reach if they aren't going to be already. Everyone in the top 10 forwards Ottawa will have by then will be Top 6 capable players.

DeBrincat, Batherson, Tkachuk, Norris, Stutzle, Giroux, Pinto, Zegras, Bedard/ Fantilli/ Mishkov, and Grieg and they'd still have Sanderson, Chabot, and Zub to fall back on and if Klingberg takes a major twilight years discount to stay for a cup run that's even better.

Not even close for Zegras. How about Stutzle for 1st 2024, Klingberg, Lunderstrom, Dostal, 1st 2023 and 1st 2025.

so a 1st, cap dump, 2 alright prospects, potential criminal and a bottom 6 forward for an elite young playmaker and Top 4 D? Lol

NotACasual Klingberg is 35 years old and on a terrible contract that only has 4 months left, and is basically a rental. At this point his value ain't a lot more than Zaitsevs value sorry to tell you.

As for Formenton and Joseph, both guys are litteraly middle 6 forwards NOT bottom 6. And Formenton is NOT a PROVEN criminal he's a SUSPECTED criminal, there is a pretty huge difference there. Jarventie is a boom or bust prospect meaning yeah, he may not be a guarantee but if he does reach his potential he will be a Top 6 guy. Boucher is pretty much a guarantee to be a middle 6 guy at worst. And that 1st carries a ton of value as Ottawa is still not done the rebuild. Future projections on draft standing don't change value. Current standings define draft pick value for up to 3 years.

All that said, like dude above said. That's still a lot for a relatively young player like Zegras.

Klingberg is 30, not 35.

i said potential not proven, get your eyes checked. Also Klingberg isn't 35 and a UFA, Zaistev is worse and signed for 2 more years you donut.
